The original film would effectively have been HD and could in theory be remastered. I wonder if there's a Blu-ray version.

Reading around it, although there is a remastered version the actual print of the film is quite low-quality compared to others, and in particular there are problems with the colour, so yes there is an HD version but it isn't as good as it might have been if they'd invested more money in the film stock, although they have tried to improve the colour.
Unlikely since the original video was never filmed in HD.
