Flashback

Alright, I guess I can use this opportunity to test the Access Control flag. If I ever get access control working.

As I'm entering stories into the archive, I'm trying to fill in "Date written" information. Of course, I can't really know this. I can only know, at best, when the story made an appearance on the internet. If I'm lucky, I have an old copy of the original file with a date stamp. For most of them, I have to go with the date they were posted to the site.

This was OK at first, but it had an unforeseen side effect. There are a significant number of story files dated September 11, 2001.

I didn't go to work that day, I got a call from my boss telling me that America was under attack and they didn't know if downtown would be safe. So I stayed home, watched television, and took notes. It wasn't until years later that I looked back at my notes and journal entries for that week and realized I had gone into some form of shock. I was just in complete denial of the magnitude of what was happening. I wasn't going to work, so I might as well update the site. It's been a while.

So when I go back and try to get more accurate dates for the stories, I'll probably start with those.
