Good afternoon to all. it is me again, And I'm back with more shit that I haven't seen on this site in a while.

Why do we like inflation so much?

Well, It's a pretty simple question to some folks. But to others- Myself included- It's about as mysterous as the Russian millitary buying two bottlenose dolphins and not telling people why.

Seriously, What was up with that?

But back on topic, Why do we like inflation? No, Really, Why is this fetish so goddamn prominent. Because when you think about it, And I mean really think about it, It's kinda silly. Someone blows up like a balloon, And it's erotic. Sometimes they pop like a balloon, And it's also erotic. Now I'm not saying this shit doesn't get me going, It totally does. But my question is why does it turn me on? Why does this kink have so many people into it? Why does this kink exist?

The simple answer is that, Well, In my opinion, We'll never know.

Now mind you I'm talking about belly/spherical expansion mainly, Breast and butt expansion I can understand. You take something that's already great, And amplify it. Like getting a soda in a can, And then upgrading to a six-pack. But what is the appeal behind watching someone's stomach inflate like a bubble?

Well, It varies from person to person honestly. Some people like it because the size turns them on, Some people like it because they also are attracted to balloons (which will perplex me until the inevitible heat death of the universe) and watching someone blow up like a balloon is the next best thing. For me it's just kind of a thing i don't really question(until moments like this obviously), but enjoy nonetheless.

But my personal problem here is that I can understand most other fetishes. Like, Bondage is a thing because people like being in the control of someone else, Or like having someone at their mercy (at least thats how i like it lol), Bbw is an attraction to a different shape of women, Futanari is having the best of both worlds, Etc.

So here is the primary reason that I'm posting this here, And not just keeping it in the dark, spooky place that is my subconcious.

What do you all like about inflation? Why does it turn you on?

Now normally this is a pretty easy question to answer. But I'd personally like you all to think on this one. To think of why this appeals to you. Put your frontal lobes to work, People!

I mean for me I'm still not certain as to why I have this fetish. But I do. And I love everything about it. I love to write it, I love to fantasize about it, I especially love to do it to myself when I'm alone.

I can't comment on spherical (my own favorite), but belly could be a crossover with a latent affinity for pregnancy (even if it doesn't directly turn you on, it could be connected to a subconscious desire to reproduce). For that matter, why is helium my favorite inflation medium?

I tried to cover this a bit when I wrote my FAQ. Keep in mind it's just a personal theory and not really a scientific backing.

The brain is composed of multiple instincts that guide us through life to keep us alive. Amongst reproduction, which is one of the strongest of our instincts lies fetishes. These are believed to be in place so that we can find specific traits in partners, even if said fetish doesn't make sense towards survival. Some theories believe this to be a form of mutation, whereas perhaps the act of inflation reminds humans of fertility, perhaps as a subliminal desire to become pregnant. Other times fetishes are "planted" when we are young, and grow up to find those fetishes as a sort of coping mechanism to take us to the innocence and protection of childhood without even realizing it. Another theory is that inflation itself is an increase in size, and that alone can grant a sense of safety or power over other things (similar to puffer fish inflating and protruding spines, certain animals that try to appear larger than they are, ETC.). Sometimes it's an attraction to things that are soft; the list goes on endlessly. The key thing is that fetishes are generally programmed not by choice, and are usually stuck with humans for life unless the brain changes that by itself.

My idea is that the inflation can also be like sex in the sense that you're building up to a climax, which is why I like popping. When the girl pops that means that she has reached orgasm, and so have I. There's also the idea that the girl is helpless and fragile while inflated so it allows me to feel dominant and in control.

The ideas already mentioned are also very good, so I'd add all of that into the mix for me too.

Here's how I break it down in my head:

There's a sudden feeling.

Things swell.

Things expand with pressure.

Once things pressureize to the point where you think they can't take any more...

There's an explosive release.

It's all a metaphore for arousal, the build up to and completion of an orgasm.

The growing in size correlates with the building up of arousal and feelings of pressure that come from an erection (which literally is a part of you that inflates in reaction to arousal).

Upon reflection, my supposition is that this is about virility and its association with growth. It stretches across both sexes at its base: growth of the penis equates to virility, growth of the womb also indicates virility. To many, like myself and those who read this, that association gets locked in early in the developmental stages to where growth IS virility, to which all turn ons lead. I may be oversimplifying here, though, and probably have to think about this further.

Although Another Canadian Guy has already uttered some of these things, I describe them too from my point of view.

It can be situated way depper in our unconscious mind than we may think. There are several points and angles of view of every individual but there are some common things.

First of all, the desire of bigger things, people want more and more of everything. The imagination of inflating object or the beloved person can arouse you because of his/her magnification.

Also - sex is in the head. And in our age of showy ads and hi-tech jobs that is a problem. ^_^

Brain is overloaded with information and impressions, it's multi-tasking and meeting deadlines all day long, it can't just shut up and let our soul do the magic of love.

All people cope with it differently. Some drink, some meditate, some go to the beach... and a few people tell themselves: I'm completely helpless in the face of impending fun, there's no way out but live it to the fullest. There's no escape! This is it! Now or never! A few others tell themselves: this person in front of me is completely overwhelmed by my power, I can do anything at all with him/her to the fullest - but only right now, now or never!

I actually agree with you in a way. While the end result of a big belly or giant boobs, or more, is exciting and arousing, the process by which she got there is the best part. Just watching a belly grow is usually all the stimulation I need.
