Inflate Club?

Greetings dear friends!

Due congrats on all holidays and b-days I missed, hugs

I've got a spare month while waiting on other projects. Why not make another tiny game?

First thing that comes to mind is a 1st person competition a la Inflate Club of Alex Deluxe, with optional bursting and optional survival. The style and platform will be the same as in Plumbing and VSG

Just thought I'd rather ask how are you doing in a civilized manner rather than jump out of the bushes next month with a ready thing ^_^

Yeah, that means I'll appear now and then while it lasts, but I'll keep a low profile this time ^_^

hahaha kidQ, man you're is priceless!

Controls:

* mouse is on the right half of the screen - you inhale

* mouse is on the left half of the screen - and you blow into your opponent

A very rough alfa has only one opponent twice weaker than you, so you always win (unless you just stand and stare)

And there's a problem. A little help would be much appreciated!

When you're inflated modestly (or even generously) - you have lungs, throat, oral cavity and all that stuff. So when you blow into another - you empty your lungs into her, then you run out of air, even if your stomach is full of it, so you have to stop blowing and inhale again, right?

BUT! When you're overinflated like a balloon - you're just a balloon, you don't have separate lungs and stomach! So when you blow into another - you empty your entire bubble into her and you deflate, FAST! Also, while she has to stop blowing into you in order to slowly fill her cute tiny lungs again - you can exhale non-stop because you've got plenty of air in you! (As long as you're a balloon, of course).

How do they win at all in Inflate Club?

Read all three parts again, no answer. Gah... Any opinion will be much appreciated! ^_^

1 - first way of animation is something i can't afford. I'll use a body from VSG and will just add 8 different faces

2 - second way is quick so I can draw 8 different characters. So unless you strongly dislike it - I'll go with it

PS These specific bodyparts in animation #2 are just for a quick example

Krasnodar stadium and graphics from VSG are samples, only characters mentioned in original story will make it to the game

No characters will be harmed in making this game, but hey - Inflate Club is Inflate Club. For the rest - I'll stick as close to this classic story as possible. They say "POP" and there will be a lot of loud BANGS and rubbery scraps, however virtual, flying in all directions.

If you've already tried an Alfa - you've already seen that when you're a balloon you have to multi-task between blowing and keeping together, so the fuller you get the weaker you can afford to blow. Good news - balloons don't have separate lungs and stomach, so chances are your full-body exhale will blow your opponent to the moon ^_^

Spent some time thinking if inflation scales should be small and in the centre of the screen - but they covered inflatee, so - made them big and wide.

And going under the carpet for a few weeks, to produce a few ugly drawings

Felix looked back at the smirking, lovely blonde. He always thought she was pretty when she smiled, but somehow it now took on a vicious tint. Still, her flawless face and tightly packaged body kept him from saying anything but "No."

On many small letters - you don't need them ^_^

The game will be very simple, breathing is moving mouse (or finger on a touchscreen) left and right. All these "new skills" are good old OFF, VOL and POP, plus a few parameters of breathing simulation. Of course it's better to have everything in the green, but hey - nobody's perfect and they still live somehow ^_^

To match it with alfa - player character in alfa has green Grab, red Big Air and yellow everything else; while non-player character has everything red

Numbers below are just number of victories in inflation matches, most common victory is when both contestants are somewhat inflated - that's "V". "Z" is a victory "without getting winded" and "O" is a barely won victory in overload when two blimps teeter on the brink and you're just lucky that the other one slipped before you. "L" is lost matches (bursting in original Inflate Club) and "F" is various faults best avoided. "Score" is the total number of victories, and "Rating" is your place in tournament table.

And if you've read to this point - congrats, you'll feel the atmosphere much deeper, it might help you a bit as well - but not critically. Every player will be able to win, even if they don't read anything ^_^

Also, this program interpolates entire inflation sequence from only two drawings: normal and full.

So if you'd rather watch inflation of Christina Hendriks as Jessica Rabbit or any personal acquaintance, celebrity or character - these two drawings is all you need ^_^

Whether you choose to draw or commission any artist of your liking, please make sure you compose a full image as three separate layers - belly, butt and boobs - that are put on a normal image. Draw them such that they can be switched on together or one by one.

For Android version characters will have to be hardwired - I'm only a newbie with phones and still not sure if it works out at all. I'll make an attempt in early May as a final touch. But on a PC you are in no way limited to my crappy drawing skills, you can have any characters at all! ^_^

Popping has been mentioned recently, and I'd like to add my two pence on it

There won't be any popping in my game

There will be bangs, and confetti and glitter - but no obliteration of characters

Not because it's evil or something - these days I love popping - but for consistency of game world. Once you add terminal popping into a competition - it becomes very difficult for imaginary characters to stay believable if they strictly obey kill rules. What stops them from breaking any rules to live? From injuring each other and preventing competion from happening? From bringing guns?

It's not true that it's only "pop or be popped" - it's also that you have to use "nondescript machine", you have to blow into "plastic tubes", you have to stand "in opposite corners" and not walk around, you have to refrain from approaching (or worse) your opponent during inflation, you can "shift in fear" but shouldn't roll off the ring, and so on. Once it becomes a pure sport - you can naturally explain why characters obey all these numerous little rules, allowing characters to concentrate on (over-)inflating each other, so that everything that happens - happens in the ring, strictly within the rules of Inflate Club.

And the same story told without popping still alows the same characters to say exact words they say in a story. They still have considerable stakes and much to lose - but not health or life ^_^

Also, absense of redheads in the story is surprising so to correct that Shanelle will be all copper and honey

A bit more on Shanelle.

Her clothing in the story "black leather pants and vest" reminds me of burgers, something Swiss or Dutch. So - I've made her a mix of those.

And the scene where she laughs is the only moment off-stage where we see her - "the two women giggled. Felix listened to them laugh as they continued down the hallway". I think she's a more simple and fun character than Imogen who never laughs, only smirks.

What's left is her inflation but I'll take the liberty to inflate her next week, with Maura, after you choose one.

"Her opponent was a flamboyant black woman, who, Felix knew, was actually named Tamika, but competed under the name “Spice,” as if she were a wrestler of some sort. She wore a star-spangled outfit, a red-white-and-blue number with stars and stripes on the up-the-crotch shorts and the ever-straining sports bra. She did some wild dances, playing to the crowd, which apparently carried a sizable fan base for her. She was over the top--sort of like her sports bra, Felix noted--but she deserved the attention, because her body was flawless. It was almost too bad that he’d have to see her pop. Almost." Actually, let's include anybody into Inflate Club ^_^

If you'd like your male or female OC or SO inflate, or if you'd like to see your favourite actor/actress, or any fictional character inflate - just let me know here

The only limitation - they gotta be human. So if you'd like to inflate a dragon, I'll draw a human man/lady in dragon costume

You can think of it as commissions, if there would be commissions for 1$ per month instead of one large fee

TLDR post - a bit on further planning

As of last Saturday I've finally got everything set up for other fun things, not related to inflation. And we're going to family vacation in two weeks. Also, I've finished drawing the last character of Inflate Club - Spice. So technically I can use coming two weeks to program a tiny thingy and wrap up - that was original plan

However, family consensus is that I should finish Inflate Club in some proper way, however humble, because time allows and it's fun ^_^

No, I'm not ready for the third installment of VSG-like visual novel, but everything else is on the table:

* During entire development - drawing and inflating any characters of your liking

* June 1st - inflation editor! Change inflation progression of all characters to your liking

* July 1st - "tiny thingy" with sounds and all graphics letting you play for any character versus any other character

* October 1st - complete game with some small scenario. Dialogues will be either voiced if anyone volunteers or written in text on a still background - for example, two characters are standing in the corridor and talking in bubbles

* November 1st - phone/tablet support. Some early tests worked nicely on Android, I'll see what I can do for it. Also, if by that time I'll put my hands on Mac - I'd be able to offer builds for Mac and iOS

It's a relaxed plan, things might move much faster. Won't spam you with intermediate milestones - game folder is up at the beginning of a thread, and right above is a plan when to check it

so far includes:

12 characters of Inflate Club plus Referee - and

4 characters of VSG

As you've noticed dev goes much slower. Much of it is due to actual dev haven't started yet - I've been drawing all this time. I still believe it's not my business to draw so I'll keep my game open to change of graphics. Still, there's a few dozen more pictures to draw

A veeery minor update

As you've noticed 1 vs 1 battles appeared

Basically I'm drawing every character in 4 views - and to make the wait bearable I post them in pairs

You'll be able to choose how you like to look at the field, from 1st person view seeing your belly bulge, or 3rd person view watching the best part of your character obscuring all your vision, or maybe PC and NPC side by side exchanging looks as they inflate each other
