OT: Hurricane Dennis

Hey everybody...

For any body who cares, if I'm gone for a while, it's because I'm about to get my sorry ass run over by hurricane Dennis. I don't know what to expect at this point but I intend to ride it out either here at home or where I work.

Wish me luck...I'm pretty scared! :(

Take care Big Horse! Here's hoping everything goes well for you and other Gulf Coast residents.

DwarfPriest

Hurricanes must suck... (sorry the bad pun). Good luck with everything.

srflour

Take care. They're saying just now that it looks headed for West Florida.

BTW, while probably not the best time to bring it up, a hurricane or maybe just a strong wind is one inflation scenario I've had in the back of my mind for a while.

A girl has her foot caught and a kitchen funnel comes bouncing along and "thunk". The wind does the rest.

"Continue the research..."

So long as you invest in a sturdy paperweight for all your works in progress is should be fine. BTW I know exactly how you must feel, it was kicking up a fine breeze over here this morning ;)

It's over and we lucked out I'm thinkin'! Thank the lord, no damage to homes or family units. Now maybe I can eat & sleep...something I haven't done much of in the last couple days.

Thanks to all you well wishers! Phhhhew!:D

Good to hear the Hurricane didn't beat you up too much! I heard some areas already hit by Ivan got hit some more.

DwarfPriest

Good to know you are fine.
I saw on the news that some countries got it really bad. 5 deaths and 21 missing in the last counting.

Fukureruba

Good grief! Here we go again! 8O

Anybody know of any good high-paying graphic design jobs in some place where they DON'T have hurricanes (or earthquakes, or tornadoes, etc)?

Sheeesh!!! :(

Shady

I'm glad everything worked out.

I'd suggest here, but after a tornado tore through Birmingham doing millions of pounds worth of improvements... maybe not so safe

funkyobrian

Yeah, its the season for bad going ons weather-wise. Just experienced a Typhoon here in Japan but I'd just moved to a place away from the center of the storm so I missed the really bad stuff. Still the typhoons here are weak compared to those nasty hurricanes in the Southern US. :(

Fukureruba

I still live! The worst of Katrina missed me by a nads hair. Still I had 100+ mph winds and have some roof damage. And I count myself lucky!

Hope you all will say a prayer for all the unfortunate people who live around here who didn't fare as well.

DwarfPriest

I'll man. I just saw the news. A sad happening indeed :(
Even here where I live we'll have some strong winds (thought nothing like tornadoes or the like)

Hey, guys, I saw a buddy of mine in an anime forum come up with a list of charities to contribute to in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. I'm also wondering if there's any chance the artists and other forum folks can help get the word out. It'd be really cool if we could help inflate the aid that helps all those displaced people.

And we thought we had it bad when Carlisle was flooded in January, over here if ANYBODY gets killed by weather it's national news. It does kind of put the power of nature in perspective by showing it isn't just poor countries that are vulnerable.
