"Comprehend" is maybe not the proper word. A fetish is a fetish, and to many people there is no intrinsic eroticism to, say, a classic/tired Tom and Jerry sight gag. It's weird. Even I'll admit that. Media exposure has no real effect on something that a person of a different mindset than us would learn of and just go "Huh?"
Also, people gain weight, and there are shops that'll cater to some more sado-masochistic impulses. We're stuck with something that's mostly impossible. That also kind of adds to the confused reactions, I think.
Less on subject... Is there any way we can make this topic and a few others (the "real inflation" topic comes to mind as well) 'sticky' so that newbies don't keep making the same basic threads over and over? That doesn't seem to be a problem now, and maybe LVKane has it under control. I'm rather sure it's been brought up before, but hey, it was bugging me.
...Heh. It would be kind of ironic if that suggestion had already gotten its own thread, though.

Ive found that here anything I say wont be considered too weird, but I used to be turned on by those gags. It was the only manifestation to my fetish I had: cartoons. And too few had female characters, so i just had to put my mind on what i had at the moment. Although, I still like them, even after years of having this page as one of the first I visit everytime I am browsing online.

I would argue that samsara isn't really appropriate here. The process, while repetitive, isn't cyclical in nature; there isn't a clear causal relationship between the end of one iteration and the beginning of another.
Besides, divergent psychologies don't preclude women from finding appeal in inflation. In fact I would argue the opposite; it is primarily because of the different and often complementary traits of the respective genders that we manage to maintain what common ground we have.
So if you're going to play pedantry in my house, you'd best bring your A game :).

Sure there is. A male newbie inquires about females with the interest, is either shot down and quits, or (yes, speaking from personal experience) meets such a person, and "desires" to meet more, but soon another newbie comes along with the same quest, and for lack of a bodhisattva (say, this thread), the path is pre-set. You have a point, but I'm curious what you base this on, exactly. It's more an observation than a rigorous theory. In the population of inflation fetishists you generally get men imagining themselves as inflators and women imagining themselves as inflatees. They're entirely different perspectives, but as a result you get a consensus in the community that women are the preferred subject for inflation.
As for just what is sexual about an inflated man or woman, I've run into a wide range of responses. Different people have different takes on it, but regardless of the reasoning the pattern seems to hold; men are usually inflators, women are usually inflatees.
Of course, as bostoncowboy has noted, "Everything I just said could be wrong." My reasoning assumes that what I've observed in the online inflation community is something resembling representative. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there even admitting you have such a bizarre fetish. I can only imagine what it's like to be a small subset of a fringe group. If there were a significant population of people who primarily preferred male inflation, would they even be comfortable speaking up here? I would hope so, but there's no way to tell.

The ultimate problem... Is that it would appear the majority of such fetishists don't speak up with their thoughts about why it's sexual, and thusly how it applies to the respective genders. For the record, while chances are very, very good that I'll always require correction, I've grasped what a metaphor is. My trouble lies in applying them properly, you see (mostly not mixing them; I'm told this is pretty retarded). I've also come to understand the role of gender when it comes to species, thank you all. Alright. Girl to the rescue.. sort of. (And yes, I realize I'm leaving my fate to the hounds)
After a fair amount of lurking and slowly discovering my growing love of inflation, and talking to the male population of the fetish, I think I can make a few valid observations that at least pertain to myself.
Why I like inflation? As a female, I like being the inflatee, either self-induced or partner-induced. However, I don't enjoy male inflation for some reason, I don't know why but I don't find it attractive, something about the male form that doesn't lend itself well to the fetish (for me, that is). If there was a female partner, we both would have to be inflated, or just me. I don't find any enjoyment out of inflating someone else.
I think why I like the thought of being inflated is because of the feeling being filled it implies, being so full that in a way you feel complete. Also, for me its the slight implication of being semi helpless, inflating makes movement difficult to fully impossible, and that is also a turn on for me as I can be a bit submissive at times.
Anyway, its not much but that's my two cents. My aim is RandomChicklet if anyone wants to chat (I've already posted myself on this thread and have talked to a couple people here ^^) i'm not much into RP unless its of a decent amount of skill (what can I say? I'm picky) but I'm almost always up for discussion.
