I wouldn't doubt there are a lot of fan-made games that use a theme of inflation. I'm interested in seeing these games, or at least knowing about them. Although, I wouldn't know where to start searching for them. Anyone have any info?
Inflation Games
Yeah that reminds me, i keep hearing about rathani over at Da but i never see any games. Where might i find the actual games.
Also for Sketvg, he has a yahoo group with all of his:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sketcharchive/
And Cattyn's site is here if you havent alreayd found it:
http://www.expansionmansion.com/cattyn/Index2.htm
Any others?
I once tried to write a text-based adventure game on the ZX81 (TS1000), but the problem was that inflation being quite a passive process for the victim, it didn't really take off (excuse the pun). However, i have had a few ideas since. For instance, the player character could have the choice of inflating or being inflated at the beginning, and there could be a choice of different inflation methods, how far you would go and how it would end. It's a work in progress, and entirely in my head so far.

ebucey at DA created this. Its a sprite transformation game. Of course, one of the weapons is a bike pump ;)
Some years back LV and I tried to collaborate on a text adventure game. It's tough to do something like that alone but it also turned out to be tough to do something like that with other people. :) We were not even in total agreement on which IF language to use!
I'd still like to revisit it; I have the design document and some of the scenarios/puzzles.
Go for it!
I hope I can revive this thread...maybe
Not sure if you can, I think the entire fourm is dead.
Isn't there a Charlie and the chocolate factory game?
edit: for the ps2 there is, whaddyaknow
Nah, this forum isnt dead. Real life just gets a toll on us. We are all getting older.

it was fun. i enjoyed props to ebucey and darth clone.

There was one on the GBA...I had ripped the sprites too and placed them in one big .bmp file...as luck would have it the motherboard on that PC blew around christmas and i've yet to hook-up the hard drive to my new PC and transfer my old files across :\
maybe we could all try and make a collaborative game?
Through talking with a good friend of mine, we've come up with a good concept for an inflation-based FPS.
Bascially, HP would be reflective of body integrity. All guns would cause the victim to inflate. Guns that do more damage cause the victim to inflate larger. The less HP a player has (all character models are female), the slower they will be able to move, until they're completely spherical. Melee weapons would be pins (which have no effect on uninflated players), and a completely spherical character can still use a pistol to defend herself. Since this is still a first-person game, the player can still look around to some degree, and can even see their own bodies. Players who can still move but are still quite full can jump higher and farther, and float in water.
Mobile players can roll immobile ones back to their team's spawn point, which has vacuum pumps used for the purpose of deflation (restoration to 100 HP). "Medics" would have portable vacuum pumps to deflate other players.
There would be pump bayonets on most guns (I've been playing a lot of Gears of War, okay?!) that can be used, either from the front or back, to inflate a player to bursting instantly. In addition, spherical players can perform blowkisses on nearby players attempting to land a melee pop. This transfers half the player's air into the would-be popper. These context actions would be viewable from either third-person or first-person, and this can be changed in an options menu.
In addition to standard deathmatch (burstmatch), team burstmatch, and capture the flag gameplay, there would be other inflation-oriented game types. First is the B3 (Big Boom Button) mode. Players are all inflated upon spawning to 1 HP, completely spherical. No weapons are allowed in this mode, as players can only bounce off of obstacles and each other, jumping to "swim" and gain altitude (think Joust). Nobody pops unless one player gets to the enemy team's button and lands on it. This bursts the enemy team, ending the round. Another game mode is an assassination-style deal, in which one character is a VIP (Very Inflated Person), and is on a team of bodyguards with inflation weaponry. A team of assassins armed only with pins (they can therefore not attack bodyguards) is trying to pop the VIP as she is rolled towards a goal zone. A third is a game in which each team starts off with a tank half-full of air. Teams must attempt to steal the enemy's air and bring it back to their own tanks, courtesy of their own bodies. In a variant, teams must steal air from the enemy base to bring back and fill up a captive enemy player with. The first team to pop their storage player wins.
There would also be helium- and water-based inflation guns. A character partially filled with helium can "swim" through the air, but the more helium she takes on, the harder it becomes to "swim" down, until she helplessly floats up. If outside, this means she bursts, but if inside, she bounces against the ceiling and can be deflated. A waterlogged player is harder to roll, but can leak water over time, and is therefore harder to burst.
Whew..! I think that's about it...
Heh good base ideas. If that ever gets started your gonna be thinking of a million things to add. Once you get a working game down you can just add everything after. Now who can program games? If only we could get Ylandra to do the 3D models and inflation...wherever he went.
Damn dude, that's pretty brilliant. I dig some of those ideas; and I might rip them off for stories or something. If you don't mind of course.
Other than that, I should have the know-how to program a fairly basic game in about two years; so if you guys don't mind waiting I'll see what I can do.
Hehee, we've been waiting for many a year, a little longer won't hurt :-D
haha The thing is, we have to wait two years for Ceffiene, then maybe a whole year more for him and some others to make it! Its torture.
I also think, vertigo, that those ideas are absolutely brilliant! I can picture it now! I wanna play it!
THat will give me time to learn Poser.
Theoretically, it could be done with a small programming team using Valve's Source engine, since it's one of the most easily modifiable engines out there. The problem is, I personally know next to nothing about programming, and contracting a development team, revealing the nature of inflation fetishism in the process, is not my cup of tea. :P
Also, you're welcome to make a story of it...I may do concept art or faux screenshots, and hell, maybe just a story to add onto it.

Yeah, getting a team to do this period; reveal or not, would be virtually impossible. Because in the end, videogames are a business like everything else. And the lot of us aren't exactly a bankable demographic. So unless one of you guys is actually Bill Gates and can order your Microsoft cronies to get to work, don't expect a retail release.
That's why I said I could do a very basic game myself, because I believe I have a few programming classes in my corriculum(Good God, help me on the spelling) at my college, complete with (very basic) software to work with. But good point bringing up Valve's source engine. Maybe between the knowledge I'll (hopefully) get and that, I might actually be able to do something with this.
...in a couple years. :D
[P.S. - taking advantage of my sig here]

Success! I finally got my hard drive in this pc and now i've got the spritesheet :3 it's got all of her sprites from the GBA version of the game :D
I'm sorry, sprites?
I'm sorry, sprites?
In 2D games, all of the movements an on-screen character makes are basically a series of pre-rendered images strung together to make an animation. For instance, Sonic the Hedgehog running, jumping, and spinning would each require its own set of images. Each of these is called a sprite.

Hard to believe nobody has ever found this:
Hey mogman could you please upload the sprite sheet to the image gallery?
Hm...has anyone ever thought of useing the AGS to make a inflation game? it's supposed to be pretty simple to use.
I keep trying to upload the sprite sheet but it's not working. For some reason it won't upload.

Well could you please e-mail me the sprite sheet? I sent a PM to you about it.
I had actually suggested an idea for an inflation pinball game in an old thread.
Ok, i've uploaded it to photobucket

Thank You. Those sprites are awesome :)
For 3D-FPS there should be sprites for omnidirectional view... The idea of 3D FPS on sprites is rather frightening. It would be much easier on opengl.
Actually, if you study the history of 3d FPS games they started out as 2d sprites inside a 3d maze...infact the very first "3d first person" game was actually 2d, ironically. But this is all besides the point since this is an inflation forum not gaming forum n.n;;;
Wolfenstein? Inflation game on wolf3d-like engine OMG :)
is there no screen shots of violet from the playstation 2/ xbox version of catcf anywhere?
Wolfenstein? Inflation game on wolf3d-like engine OMG :)
It's such an easily modifiable engine, too. With enough programming knowledge, it could definitely work, and still have great quality to it.
Hell, I'd start it as a pet project, except that I have absolutely no idea how to work it...but it shouldn't be that difficult to learn to make custom sprites and have them controlled by basic AI scripts.
I wrote a couple of pages for an inflation game idea that i sent to that Similar guy on deviantart to use for his game. He thought a tiny bit complicated though ^^ But damn, it is a great idea :)
Sorry, I just wanted to direct the conversation into more inflation waters.

i dont know much about making a game but i can fiddle with doombuilder to try to make a inflation shooter if someone supplies me with the sprites
I know I've said it before but I haven't got a clear answer. Has anyone bought the Charlie and the Chocolate factory gane for the ps2? Apparently you spend two levels with Violet by pushing her into the juicing room. Is this true?
I have CATCF on PS2. Yes, your job in that level is to get Violet to the juicing room area through different rooms in order for you to roll the girl there. In some cases, you can even turn your oompa loompa partners into mini blueberries to progress :P.
Any still photos for the site?

How 'bout making a post with some actual substance instead of just a ">.>"?
Speaking of staying on topic, who's this Similar person and what's this about an inflation game?
>.> is a perfectly, internationally accepted emoticon that conveys my feelings. But, like always, one has to state the obvious:
I rolled my eyes because the thread was steering away from INFLATION GAMES to INFLATION IN GAMES. And on top of that, Im sorry if I offend, I dont mean to, but it has to be friggin Willy Wonka again lol I swear, Im seeing that guy everywhere.
Similar is a guy on deviant art who's making a little expansion FPS. Thats his name in DA, Similar. Finding him wasn't hard.
CattyN's made a few, so has SketchVG and Rathani.
Those are all that I know of.
Caution: this user is a new guy in training.
