You put a spell on me...

So, you're going to cast an inflation spell, either on yourself or someone else. How might it read? What does it do? Any props needed to cast it right? Is there a counter spell and did you remember to write it down, first?

If I made an inflation spell, it would require some form of contact- a kiss, maybe a touch- something to set it off. The any other contact of this type will either up the power of the spell or reverse it.

It would have a one word command "Bloat", "Balloon" stuff like that.

Magic words and material components are mostly just details for me, although sympathetic inflation with a balloon is a nice device, especially if it's being filled with helium. As for the effects, I'd like the spell to cause inflation on a condition the target has little or no control over. There's a great story on overflowingbra.com where the protagonist experiences breast expansion whenever she's embarrassed, which needless to say tends to compound itself.

Is this for a story you're writing?

It's more for just funzies. But, yes, I've had a plot to a story rolling around in my head for a few years that involved an inflation spell I had thought up. I was pondering it the other day and just got curious as to what witty little incantations people here may have come up with (or maybe just stir the creative spirit).

You have to gauge in also how many magick points it would consume, so you dont have to bring too many potions with you. Also, I mean, if your Air elemental defense is 0%, come on, somebody casts Reflect on themselves and you are screwed. Also, how high would your Arcane skill need to be to create a working spell as cheaply as possible?

SOrry couldnt resist :p

That's always a device plot I like to see, though I'm not sure why I find it so appealing.

For me, at least, it's the implied risk. Besides the obvious danger of floating away, there's also the possibility of losing your grip, floating up to the ceiling, and being unable to reach the inflation apparatus as you get bigger, and bigger...

Or the balloon could slip off the nozzle and go flying around the room, causing you to go flying out of control as well. And if the balloon pops and you don't, how do you intend to deflate yourself again?
