The site is a haven for all sorts of hate filled, frothing at the mouth idiots. I think the world would be a better place if the site were gone.

The internet is no place for rationality. It's also no place to let shape your self-image, Catty. As we say a lot round these parts, don't let the bastards get you down. You're looking at a site frequented by a handful of negative people. Just because they are loud does not mean they're a majority, or even correct.

Don't let them define you. It's a parody site, for chrissakes.

......Are there any hackers in the community? Maby someone can bring down that site. Or someone could create a virus that infects anyone who looks at Catty's page, or something like that.

As long as you don't continue to provide lulz to them then they won't bug you. They'll get bored and move on to something else. You can't be paranoid about this shit. It's absolute stupidity to even worry that these people can screw you or anyone over. If they wanted to do it then they would have done it by now. It's the god damn internetz for tubes sake.

I can completely sympathise with CattyN completely, I almost stopped drawing inflation themed art because I was smapped with requests for ages and I don't even draw it THAT often. People need to be patient, shut the f*ck up and get what they're given. WHEN THEY'RE GIVEN IT.

I dunno. ED has its moments sometimes. Reading about Snapesnogger's escapade on the ConceptArt forums was pretty priceless, well deserved and worth a look.

4chan was hacked a month or two ago and brought down for a few days.

But yes, people online CAN hurt you. While the threat of people hurting others online (Either through stalking and physically assaulting them or mental abuse) is seriously overplayed by everyone, it does exist.

What's a "lulz"?

Pretty much my sentiments. It's just one single section of the internet and shouldn't be worried about. There's lots of cliques and groups on the internet that hate one another, or simply hate certain people in those groups. No-one can really stop it, and all this talk of "I'LL HACK THEM AND DESTROY THEM! THEY'LL ALL BE SORRY!" just looks pretty silly; remove the site and they'd just restore it.

It's also not going to make the hating go away. I should know, I got into an argument with some anti-inflationists on a forum somewhere that only resulted in me effectively getting laughed off the board even by the moderators, who had no interest in "keeping the peace" and more in getting rid of this loony sticking up for this inhumane practise, as well as trying to look cool with their friends.

I mean, it's cruel what they've done to CattyN (I dunno the full story and I'm not gonna look at the article, as I'm taking my own advice and avoiding this sorta stuff) but unless they've really got nothing better to do but hound you day and night, there must be a way to "start anew" so to speak. Like get a new name and e-mail... I mean, if you post art they might recognize the style, but this is once again only if they really are as needlessly relentless as you say they are.

I'm not gonna pretend to understand the situation 100%, but that's all I can say about it. I shouldn't have gotten worked up over what was a rather insignificant internet forum's opinion over it, I don't think anyone else should.

Ever notice how the few rare forums like this where the dialogue is mostly plain English are invariably the same ones that need almost no moderation and there are hardly ever any flame wars?

I fear that people here think I'm hiding because I'm sad or upset at what they are saying about me over on ED. That is far from the case. I could care less about what they say about me. What really scares the shit out of me is that this group of determined people are hunting down everything I do, and don't do, and posting it to make fun of me and I'm scared shitless that they'll link up my normal artwork with my inflation artwork. They'd do that just to piss me off, and honestly... if that ever happened... i don't know what I'd do.

Some of you seem to think that the internet can't hurt you, cuz it's just a bunch of words, and I've come to realize that this is not true. The internet CAN hurt you quite alot if you let it, and sadly I made the mistake of letting it get too close. So I'm trying to protect myself now while I can.

And to all those here who think ED is ok because it's just a silly satirical website, just remember, you can be satirical without calling someone a "nigger" (like they're doing to me). That's not satire, that's pure hate, and that's not funny.

Not sure what to say in regards to the whole "pure hate" ordeal. Yeah, it could be done in a different way, but it wouldn't be so grotesque if it were.

They abuse the first admentemt, but yet they steal art. Even tho its inflation art or whatever its STILL ART thats like taking money from ED and saying "its not yours so its mine now". With all the racist articles they go on about on there and why are they ALLOWED to, something is wrong there. Thats like me making a article about the KKK and saying how they are mighty and powerfull(just a refrence I think what they did is right). I still don't get it how can stealing art be legal thats like me going into a art musem and stealing the mona lisa or something else and saying "its not copyrighted so its mine!". I don't care about the site really they could all die for all i care, but I care about the stealing of art just to make Lame insults over what that person belives in just for the "lulz". Yes? Don't tell me you've never been in any relationship with any person that wasn't bettered by the tearing down of a mutual friend, acquaintance or complete stranger. Social cannibalism is the basis for a not insignificant amount of casual friendships and relationships. Just look at everybody banding together and demonising the big scary ED.

Yes, yes, internet can seep into real life and eat children and ruin careers. Yes, yes, it's terrible. I am not disagreeing with that notion, but as soon as you put anything up on the internet you sacrifice most of the control over it. It's lousy, I'm sure, but it's part of the price you pay to have a fanbase you lovingly leave behind as you move on to the next step in life.

To all the references to racism, for one, misconceptions of inequalities between people are always going to exist. Not that it's a good thing. For two, one of the ways to make the diction of those who care most vehemently about those sorts of things is, I believe, to make it lose its meaning by oversaturation and misuse.

I hardly think because something wrong is a convention means it should be acceptable. Shouldn't we work to change things instead of assuming its always going to be that way?

Even if its nearly impossible, I'd rather strive for a world thats generally civil to each other as opposed to one where people are tearing each other down for no real good reason, anonymously or not.

Ah, true. True. You're right about that. The funny thing is about ED is that usually the people who make these articles and write all of this stuff up are the people in the community. Who knows? They can be watching us right now. Reading all that we type to find something lulzworthy. XD

But I've noticed that some of these people are asking for this kind of attention. It's not good attention but they are asking for it. Some of these people deserve it for being dicks or idiots on the interweb. I know it sounds harsh but I don't care. Consider what you want of the site and the actions and such but if you read over the articles and see what they really say...well...you'll be laughing for hours. lolwut?

I do feel bad for some because I actually talked to maybe two or three that are listed and they aren't bad people but what they said at the time was just bad timing. Mostly I see is that they can't take criticisms and make excuses. That's what sucks.
