While I prefer Hard Science Fiction or Swords and Sorcery for reading, when I'm writing inflation stuff, I've no real preference.
Favorite Genre?
I asked myself this question a little while ago but I didn't really have an answer. The stories I enjoy the most vary too much, so I can't really say for sure that I have a favorite genre.
What about the rest of you? Is there a certain kind of inflation story (fantasy, science ficton, erotica, exc.) that grabs your attention the most, or do do you find yourself unable to pick a favorite genre as well?
Do your preferances in inflation stories revolve around something entirely different, possibly something more specific than what I'm talking about?
I like modern day tales. It's more believable to me due to the setting, but I also have no problem inserting science or magic or any of the other popular and useful excuses into the modern-day mix.
My favorite is comedy leavened with horror or mystery. But then, I associate inflation with masculine clowns, not with women like most of us do, so I'd be expected to have a rather different viewpoint.
Time-frame-wise, modern day or medieval fantasy both work for me.
Normal, modern day is most interesting to me, but once in a while someone will do a really crazy, interesting sci fi story that is brilliant.
Ive also wondered for more high fantasy inflations. Not many around. The largest was the classic wizards of nyst. caffienexaddict did world of warfat which was cool, and somebody else did one with a male knight inflating. Was that fuku or whom?
I prefer realistic; Blowing up a girl's suit.
I'm I realism fan, too. Besides suit inflation, I like bodily inflation by things like helium tanks and air compressors that exist in the real world.
But you have to admit that otherworldly aspects give a new dimension to the beloved doom factor :)
Would love to try fantasy genre for inflation stories; use can always explain something away with the all-round excuse, "it's magic."
