Art Pilferage

Don't know if anybody realizes it or not, but our 'friends' at Latexcatfish have been pilfering copyrighted art. The link shows a page with some of my work. I noticed that they had used my drawings of a latex donkey suit from Fatassclub on Deviantart, but have since taken it down. They actually produced a suit based on that art...and it stinks. They completely missed the point.

To add injury to insult, they had been removing any logos and copyright info from the drawings and substituting it with their own. Noticed they sorta chilled out on that. Somebody else must have gotten all over them like ugly on an ape.

Just thought you artists out there would want to know...so you can demand your rightful chunk of their profits. :?

Oh, those guys. Yeah, they also steal designs from PrettyPervy and Kinkyking.

I cut and pasted a few examples and wrote in:

"Why are you offering copyrighted artwork on your website for download without compensating or even crediting the original artists?

I don't support businesses that do not respect the community of their potential customers."

That was the most polite way I could think of to say it.

Fukureruba

Yea...that is a pretty interesting business model isn't it? Steal the artwork of the very perverts you're trying to sell your stuff to. Brilliant plan there Sherlock!

Before I posted here I had talked to Pretty Pervy, to get their take on the situation, because I knew they had been victimized. Just thought I'd take the 'spread the word in the community' route first.

What's really sad is that I'm honored that they think enough of my crap to want to use it...and I'd be cool with it if they would've just asked first or would give me proper credit (and promise me...ohhhh, I'm not greedy...a 25% slice of the pie).

Tinmible

I don't know whats stupider. The idea of selling images that could easily be found for free all over the net, or the people who buy them.

catafracture

They bothered to take some of my work. you know I don't even know what to say about that. Seems sort of like stealing a car up on cinderblocks. It annoys the owner, and no one is going to buy it.

China has rampant corruption from what I hear. I'm not surprised that a latex fetish manufacturer there is stealing other people's designs and violating copyrights. I also wouldn't be surprised if their garments had some sort of toxic substance in them that would give you a rash or worse.

"Or worse..." I wonder if there's any potential for a story in which a Chinese-made inflatable latex suit caused the wearer to inflate for real?

Seriously though, plagiarism really sucks.

And who's definition of worse is this? I'd buy two! One for me and one for, whomever else I could con into putting it on.

They're such sneaky bastards. Any mention of breaking copyright laws on their "message board" or Youtube account gets promptly deleted by them.

I really like the idea of the key drawings to reality, it's the quality of this company is nothing wrong, and showing videos of their costumes without the need to apply silicone to make them more brilliant st.

Unos problemos, señor. A lot of those drawings are unrealistic, difficult to make and not to forget STOLEN. Stop promoting plagiarism.

in31415

I suppose we should ensure others on similar inflation and latex/rubber interest forums are also aware of what latexcatfish are doing.

On a lighter note, I like the idea of bringing to reality some inflation suit drawings, many of them look really cool to me, but this is far from the right way of bringing them to life.

Um, okay. But why not at least ask the artist's permission before co-opting their work and rebranding it? How does that tie in with the quality of their products? It only reflects poorly on the quality of their character.

It really is a respect issue, and that lack of respect makes me not want to do business with them. Maybe their products are fantastic but this issue will honestly prevent me from buying them. (And I'm actively in the market for something, so it's not one of those "oh, that's just a complainer who wouldn't buy anything anyway.")

Hide your signature on small parts of any picture you make in a place that would ruin the picture if you removed the area. like in a shaded area. Or patent all your work and actually spend money on your passion until you go broke and loose most of the stuff you enjoy.
Or, hope your artwork is well known enough that your fans will fight for you, what other good use are they for?

Ah, But that's how people make money who don't want to get a job that requires hard labor.

I don't mind the explanation or the plug -- I think they're just standing behind their product and explaining how the situation came to be. If they have something better to show than found art, I do want to see what it is and where I can find it, you know?

Thanks for clarifying, catfish.

Dear Sir,

Now we have made various inflatable animal latex suits include horse, donkey, whale, rabbit etc, but they are based on the other's arts (the arts are not belong to us), I am not sure if we can share them on our youtube, is it possible and acceptable? Will you be angry?

Best regards,
Joyce

Well, you already made them and I'm pretty sure they differ from the actual drawings. Call them "Inspired by a drawing of..." and there should be no problem.

I normally hate to sign up for just one instance and dredge up an old topic but it seems that LatexCatfish have added ignoring paying customers to their list of talents. Having ordered something in October and repeatedly trying to get in contact I have now heard of numerous people who have paid and have not been able to get in contact with them. BE VERY WARY IF YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH THEM!

I've had someone on eBay nick photos I've done of products I sell, and watermark them as their own. I was a tad annoyed. But I can't do anything about it. :( Guess I'll have to start watermarking mine.
