Do people pay for art?
Hi there,
Just curious, I'm an artist. Whilst I mainly draw furry inflation, I have drawn one or two human inflation pics in the past. (Both Male).
However, I'm looking at doing more human work, both male and female.
Full colour pieces would set you back around $50.

Around 5-6 hours is taken when doing a peice.
That means under $10 an hour... Worth it?
I get that and more for my furry stuff.
Yeah, it's a wonder why most human inflation artists snub this community.

I think the issue is that a lot of non-furry inflation artists usually charge about half of that, so to us, it seems like a large price.

I'll pay what I think the piece is worth, if I'm in the market for it. That being said, I think $10-$20 for a print of an existing piece is reasonable (I work in a con art show, this is what most artists charge for a print), $40-$100 for an original, and when it comes to commissions, well, my checking account sets the limit. I do have some wonderful originals - Fantasy, Furry, and Anime - that I've spent more than $100 on.
And then, we've got the 3D CGI model commissions... starting at $500, and going up... 8O

That analysis makes absolutely no sense. It's true it takes a couple years to make a game with constant art contribution from several people, but that has nothing to do with the individual freelancer working for a private contractor, such as a commissioner.
We get paid salary to do our job just like anyone else. We're doing it for a grand audience though, especially if its a AAA title. This is meant to be enjoyed shallowly by the masses which you are part of. The joy you get out of something made to your own individual tastes is beyond comparison to something made for the masses, hence you pay more for because its for you alone.
Average "Joe Concept Artist" might make a full painting in a work day, Two if he's experienced enough. At a modest $16 an hour that's $128 a day. A freelance artist could easily spend just as much time on a painting of equal quality and he's asking less than half of that and you say its unreasonable.

Yeah. No. You can't expect people to rush at you with 50 bucks a drawing if you can't put down more work in this genre. Besides, I know others who'll do it cheaper, and possibly better.
You guys want cheaper? I know a few dudes who don't mind doing humans, inflation, and for less.

I was merely in the mood to perhaps draw some more human stuff and thought why not open it up here.
I was charging what others do in the furry world for art at my level. As stated above, this is below minimum wage and is no means a way to make a living.
Have someone that can do it cheaper? Go to them, because from what I've seen around here people hound for free art and expect the world from Artists such as big horse and actually get "mad" when he doesn't produce any new art for the community.
Just plain wrong.
Was just trying to contribute, was just asking a question. I get my ass chewed out by folks on the forum.
I guess I understand the type of personalities that are in this fandom a little bit better. Sorry to have opened the offer in the first place.

50 bucks...seriously o.o, with the quality shown and what's usually charged by other furry artist for higher quality works, it just doesn't seem worth it so going to have to go with Z on the 'popularity' price grab.

There's always GrineX, he's doing a drive just to get some bills paid.
He's also told me personally he wouldn't mind doing humans at all, inflated or otherwise, and doesn't charge nearly half the price.
So he's open to anyone here contacting him on FA or DA, whomever's interested.

Quit trying to save face, dude. You seriously don't even do furry females, let alone have the experience for much of it.
I could care less if you didn't draw any human inflation, got friends who don't think charging insane prices for it is a great thing.
Besides, 50 bucks is FF13, you can go eat a soggy sayo for even thinking of that much for your work. Work you haven't actually drawn in a long time.
You've been too busy with fursuits and going to cons to even sketch. So there, you're not worth it.
