Rp tips

Hey everyone. So before I descovered this site I had no idea about rping (at least as far as inflation is concerned). I get the basic idea but have no actual experience. Anyway, I wanted to try it out cuz it sounds fun but I have a feeling I'll make a fool out of myself. Does anyone have any tips on how to rp "the right way"?

Thanks.

1. Know what you like
Let the person you are rp-ing with what you like, try to be open and frank about it. You're more likely to keep people about rather than scare them off if you're open.

2. Know what they like
Make sure you know what the other person is into and try to figure out how it fits into your own preferences. Give and take though, if you go all gung-ho on your likes and leave their's in the dust don't expect them to stick around forever.

3. Work out the parameters
Make sure you and the other person know the general layout. I.E. who's inflating who. Will it be cartoonish or realistic? How will actions be differentiated from speaking, etc. If you don't hammer out these things it's going to be a train wreck.

4. Patience!
Be patient, someone you like rp-ing with won't always be online when you are and won't always be in the mood when you are so relax and just wait it out. Charging in and constantly bombarding them about rps will not always go over so well. Also, be patient if they're new to rps and others should be patient with you, if they aren't then they're wasting your time.

That's pretty much it, if you want to chat more about it feel free to message me, I believe my YIM is on here, which reminds me.

4. It doesn't always have to be RP chat
The other person is a human being and may have interesting thoughts, facts, or opinions to themselves so it's good to chat about things other than inflation or rps.

Ok thanks. I think the patience one is probably the hardest overall to do just in genneral. But then again, "patience is a virtue"

Yeah those tips are pretty solid.

Only things I could add to it would be keeping an open mind: while some idea may not appeal 100% to you, you never know until you try I guess. It might be better than you think.

And the other would be to mix it up with variety. Change up who inflates who and the situations it takes part in and even the methods used. Getting filled with a hand pump the same way might be great the first few times but eventually it'll grow stale so mixing it up can open up fun new ideas.
