Instead of the sticky thread championed by Auriga for finding role-players, perhaps the database of forum members could be augmented with some new sort parameters. (Parameters more useful than alphabetically and date of registration.) Members might have to modify their profiles to show an interest in role-play, or perhaps the mere presence of chat addresses might be enough.
An improved profile system might be the best approach, as the number of members is very large. Perhaps profiles might have flags for role-player, artist, writer, popper, etc. I realize this idea approaches "social networking site" complexity, but creating a few new sort parameters might be a way to manage it.
This is an excellent idea. Two issues (both surmountable, but will require a bit of thought):
1) Developing a fieldset to define people's interests. The most basic is a profile field indicating whether a person is interested in roleplay at all. After that, fields for preferences (looking for men/women, inflator/inflatee, etc.).
2) How to search/sort. Dragonfly (the software the site runs on) isn't well suited to that sort of profile customization, but this is still an idea well worth implementing. I'm working on a plan.
Right now what would be most useful is feedback. What sort of information is important to people looking for roleplay partners?
