Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman star Adrienne Palicki struggles to stay in her costume as she inflates like a balloon

Okay, so I exaggerated that headline a little, but the article still has some great photos. And Christina Hendricks as Wonder Woman? If only!

I think we need more information before calling it a success or failure. We haven't seen any real footage, and we don't know if it's aiming for campy, gritty, whatever.

Further proof that more information is needed: it's not a movie, it's a TV show. So...let's keep an open mind so new information can pour in.

I'm neither for nor against the show. I just caution against rushing to judgement in any and all realms.

So I guess this shitcans the idea of there ever being a Wonder Woman movie to help getting a Justice League of America movie in our midst? Goddamnit... Who cares though? Besides Kevin Spacey's performance in Superman's Return and Christopher Nolan's takes on Batman, DC and Warner Bros. don't have jack to bring to the table.

Inflate123 is correct, it's a tv show... written by the same guy who wrote Ally McBeal, who might I add, has NO WORKING KNOWLEDGE of the character of Wonder Woman.

This thing is going to absolutely suck ass.

Actually I double checked and we're both right -- it's a TV movie. Guess it's basically the pilot, the way they tried to reboot Knight Rider a few years ago. And that, you will remember, was not a success.

But the truth is that David E. Kelley has written more quality TV shows -- Picket Fences, Doogie Howser, and yes, Ally McBeal included -- than you have probably watched. Would I be happier to hear names like Joss Whedon in the mix? Sure. But the guy has earned the right to give it a shot, and I will repeat that I don't see any reason to rush to negative judgement at this point. If it doesn't work out, the world won't end anyway. Until then, I don't see the point of being "that guy on the internet who hates everything before he experiences it."

Want some hope? Kelley's not taking the gig for granted and might actually uncover something new outside of his comfort zone. Good heavens, after years of writing excellent female characters, what if he does something new with this one?

I'll leave you with a quote: "I tend to be a little grand in terms of storytelling. I've never been limited by anybody's sense of reality." -- David E. Kelley
