Some people use a code to indicate to those in the know that they are, for example, into water sports, gay, sub or dom. We don't do that, but wouldn't it be nice if there was, say, one day a year when we could do something like wear an unobtrusive violet tie or a blueberry badge which would indicate to the cognoscenti what we were into? What if, for example, it turned out the person at the checkout of the local supermarket or your taxi driver turned out to share these fantasies and you never knew? I just think it'd be a fantastic discovery which might just totally change your relationship with people. What do you think? Am i just being stupid?

It might work, though you would have to do some sort of mass notification and have everyone agree/accept to the terms.
Though myself personally wouldn't want to know if some stranger shares the same or similar fetish.

My idea is for it to be subtle and only noticeable to those in the know. Right now, we have the impression that it's rare and that we are unlikely to come across anyone else in real life who has it "off the bat" instead of after persuasion. I think it'd be cool if we knew there were other people.
And, i would also suggest we do it on 30th June each year because that's the release date in several countries of the original "Willy Wonka" film.

Not a terrible idea though there is a fair bit of diversity in the realm of expansion what you're talking about seems to only be geared towards the berry expansion enthusiast. A universal expansion lover code would be kinda cool though don't know how well it would work out though. The expansion fetish is not a well shared one and then on top of that as I said before there are many variations of expansion out there.

I thought about it more as a reason to rally ourselves -- an excuse to write new stories or post new images -- but it didn't catch on, partly because people worried that it might actually attract attention. I learned that most people with this interest prefer a low profile -- even if you're talking about something within the community, people may feel that's calling too much attention.
I wouldn't call you stupid IMO for this idea. It would seem like a neat one, though one would have to be subtle but noticeable on the approach. What I did for example was make my own pin with a tiny drawing clipped inside of an actual blueberry dressed up with the title "Blueberry Freak" written on it.
