Thanks for the link. Since it came through the AP, I have seen a few dozen news reports on this today. Co-workers told me about this today and they thought it was the funniest thing they had ever heard in their lives. I played it cool and did not bring up Ms. Munns, but I was thinking, well, it's funny because he lived to tell the tale, I guess. And the less I share, the better. :)
It is a crazy freak accident, though -- so implausible that a few years after it happened to Samantha Munns, some folks here thought it was a hoax! Clearly...no hoax. Just bad luck.
This time, fantasy > reality -- I like our versions better.
Someone needs to turn this into a story. How often are you gonna get to use the phrase "based on true events" when writing about inflation? :P
