perhaps the topic should be how old were you when you first discovered this fetish. or first realized it was a fetish, and not just odd feelings and thoughts.
i used to think i was crazy or there was something wrong with me, until i found out there were more people out there into inflation.

Mhmm. This has been on my mind for a very long time now; specifically, since it became sexualised (puberty, duh).
I do have strong recollections of a book that I read in primary school (about 6 years of age).
It had a full page picture of a number of snakes being inflated with air tanks. I had no idea why at the time, but this completely mesmerized me.
It's strange to think what actually causes fetishes. I can scarcely think of a good reason for what actually started this.

That's an interesting point. I had all manner of weird things I liked, but never considered them sexual until much later.
What was strange for me was I used to dream about being stuck in a barrel and rolled around in it at a very early age. Then I saw Wonka and decided I didn't want to be in the barrel I wanted to be the barrel.
It took off from there.

This is an interesting poll, but it's tricky to say when it first became sexual..I guess *consciously* sexual it would be when I was about 12, but I've been into inflation for as long as I can remember. Even as a very young girl I kinda associated women with balloons, and imagined them inflating...seem to recall thinking about it a lot when I read comics, I used to like the Fantastic Four,and loved imagining the Invisible Girl blowing up like a balloon. I would have been 5 or 6 then, and during that same time I used to have a recurring dream/nightmare about a man dressed in black, wearing black gloves, who would pop me with a pin like I was a balloon..I used to wake up kinda scared and tingly all over! I was also scared of balloons bursting when I was a kid, or nervous around 'em in case they suddenly went bang!
I expect all that got entangled into my sexuality over time. It wasn't that uncommon to have breasts behaving like balloons in comedy shows at that time (Benny Hill show especially), and I particularly loved that when I was a kid.
At school when I was 9ish there was one friend I loved iamgining blowing up into a big round balloon and floating away (she often wore a red shirt, so she looked like a big red balloon),but didn't think of it in any sexual way really..it was when I was at secondary school, that was when that really kicked in.. we were all developing, and to this day I have a love of bulging uniforms :) back then there was only one friend who actually knew about these thoughts of mine, she thought it fun and joined in, but I never imagined there'd be many more people out there who shared this interest!

That's interesting, pneumaticchick. Thinking about this makes me wonder - what other kinds of things do people keep to themselves? There must be things that are so weird and rare that not only do people never talk about it, they never form a website or engage in any other type of communication about it because there aren't enough people who share it. There could be ideas out there that are so strange that the rest of us could never even imagine them.
Another thought: if it takes us years to figure stuff like this out as children, there's a good chance that there are plenty of things that we, as adults, will never be fully aware of - because we're not as free and openminded as we were when we were children.
Sorry to get all philosophical on you.
As far as my personal experience, I can relate to what others have said about knowing that I had a strange fascination with the idea before it had any sort of sexual connotation. It also sort of evolved over time. I won't go into too much depth, but it started out as just a general interest in people getting larger and gradually evolved into a fascination with large bellies. Now my interest is pretty much focused on pregnant women, but I also like the idea of appearing pregnant.

First noticed the attraction to inflation when I was 5 or 6 watching Inspector Gadget and some of those old cartoons that periodically inflate characters.
However, it wasn't sexual until I was 7 years old, watching Willy Wonka for the first time in first grade. I was trying to figure out why I had a boner and why I was trying to hide it from everyone else in the class.

This whole thing started at a really young age with me, as I can remember "really liking" certain cartoons that had inflation in them.
I basically became aware that this was something that aroused me when I was still a pre-pubescent kid. Course, I always kept this to myself and never told anyone, as I thought I was a total freak.
