I remember back in the days when the Internet was a lot simpler and the inflation community was smaller and more tightly-knit, we used to have a text file, the balloon buddies media inflation list, occasionally updated which listed sightings of inflation in mainstream media. It was fairly concise, but laid out according to type of media with information about what type of inflation to expect, whether anyone had managed to obtain it and what it contained.

Now we have frequent forum posts about sightings, many of which are by new people unaware that the sighting is already well known, and for some difficult to find things there may be many posts as history repeats itself every year or so and a new attempt is made to find it.

I wonder if the situation... Brb I'll finish this post in a short while.

OK back, seems I can't edit the post itself so I'll continue here.

What I was gonna say was might we be able to get some order back into sightings if there were an extra forum for them people could then create a thread for each sighting and other people could post things about it, including links if they do manage to find it. If someone makes a new post where we already have one for that sighting it could be moved to the correct thread, or deleted if necessary, and the thread titles could be a brief description including what type of inflation the sighting involves. Instant catalogue.

Sounds like a great idea, Carnatic. If it is not too big a request for Luther, maybe a Web form could be made to impose some order on the list: movie or TV show title, check boxes for type of inflation, a text box for a description, etc. The database would then auto-alphabetize, or perhaps be searchable by type of inflation, just like the search tags in the story archives.

And it should only be for mainstream media sightings or rumours. Made for fetishists clips have their own place.
