Selling an Audio Clip...Thoughts?

Hello! The other day I was curious about the 'SwellSounds' thread and heard Lock was working on an inflation audio clip with some friends. I decided to try making a clip myself, but by making all the sound effects from scratch using my headset microphone. The result was pretty good, said by most inflationists I showed it to.

Lately, I've been wanting to start making a living off my work as a game designer. It takes a long time to do this, but I have this clip here, all original content, and then I decided I was going to sell it dirt cheep ($1.50) online. If the majority of you think that selling a clip I mostly made as an experiment is a bad idea, then I'll be more then happy to share it for free instead.

Here is the link: https://sellfy.com/p/X2qP/

It includes a 45 second-ish preview of a random part of the clip.

Let me hear your opinions on this, or give feedback on the clip if you bought it. I'd appreciate it :)

Well Male inflation isn't my bag but I gave the 45 second preview a listen and the quality is pretty darn good.

Although I'm a freeloader until a point where I have a job I encourage this endeavour and feel if the quality of future audio from you is about the same then like other audio works I have witnessed it is worth producing and selling.

I always wish for more (female) balloony audio content within the inflation community so any audio content at all at this level is pretty nice to find for those who would enjoy it.

Pretty well done. I personally prefer content that features women but this is very well executed. I especially like that you skipped the script and just went for pure sound effects.

An excellent resource: http://www.freesound.org/

Not sure what software you're using, but see if it has the ability to take a "noise print" (or something with a similar name) and subtract it from your recorded clips. What you do is take a bit of room tone at the beginning or end of your clips, then you apply it through the noise reduction filter and you have a pretty nicely isolated sound effect. (You may have already done this; I couldn't tell because of the shower running.)

Also, good on you for offering FLAC.

Your price is very reasonable. Setting up a store and everything and selling enough clips to make it all worth your while is a different story, though. I barely broke even. What will be key here is finding some girls to do voice acting for you. That will increase sales ten-fold.

As far as offering clips for free, it may not be a bad idea to do a few freebies. Try a few different styles, see what gets the most downloads, get some feedback, and prove your clips are worth paying for. If the material is free and it just costs you some time, it may be worth it. Up to you.

Always nice to see someone making content. Hope you keep it up.

Thank you guys for your comments! I really apreciate the feedback.

Also @pjoker. I used freesound to get placeholder sound effects, before I made my own to take their place. That way I don't have to give credit to anyone, because everything was done by me :3

I wasn't so sure the voice acting would be good, but I'm glad you thought it was alright.

Now, I might make more audio clips in the future, considering you all (all two of you) seem to like it. However, I enjoy doing things entirely by myself most of the time, so I will experiment with doing a female voice (with some editing), either until I get it just right, or I cave and ask someone to do it for me.

Although, I thought about this: I'm getting very good at making video games, so perhaps I could make an Inflation based game and sell that? It would take longer, but I think it would have more value then an Audio Clip :P

Thanks again!

This is amazing. I really love male inflation and sometimes I feel like there's not enough video or audio for males, so I was excited when I saw this. The quality is great and I love the idea of no script. Definitely make more!
