Lot's of people have been wondering how Violet swell up with Juice in the Movie? After she ate the gum her skin turns blue and after that she starts filling up? how can one little stick of gum cause a girl to inflate into a big blue ball filled with juice and turn her skin blue aswell? if you guys know how that actually works or you seen an article on how it worked on her then let me know :) I be intrested to see how it worked (I know in the movie it was an act and good FX but I just need to know the story behind it :) )
How did Violet swell up with blueberry juice?
well, my theory would be that the juice from the gum goes in your bloodstream, and once that happens, the cells in the juice would multiply rapidly. the cells also react to the skin cells and muscles, and even the bones, so your skin turns blue as a result, and your innards become more flexible, allowing your body to swell up.
It was written by the same author that gave us a family living in a giant peach, a telekinetic schoolgirl and witches turning people into mice... and was a childrens book. He wasn't the type to give pseudoscientific midichlorian-esque explanations for why the weird stuff in his books happened.
One it's fantasy, I REALLY hope everyone is clear on it. I had a discussion with someone today about how younger people today may have a slight tecnological edge with new stuff but a SEVERLY lacking in practical and factual knowledge.
Anyway here's my take on it. From my DA page. http://cutter2506.deviantart.com/gallery/#/art/How-Wonkas-Gum-Works-359598471?_sid=ee73ade
Haha, I really have little to add to Cutter's absolutely awesome piece.
As much as I adore them, blueberries are an obvious violation of 2nd law of thermodynamics - so if they are possible, then Perpetuum Mobile is possible, too. A free matter appears inside Veruka - which can be turned either to free money for all (via sales of the juice) or free electicity (via turbine). One would imagine Wonka-mobiles rolling on the streets, powered by Blueberries, and Wonka-powered submarines sailing in the blue, blue, BLUE oceans. Until the planet changes orbit due to added mass. ^_^ So - unfortunately - I had to rule out blueberries in my world.
In AD&D they have fireballs - like, flames appear out of nowhere - but they put other limits so that fantasy market doesn't crash. For example, mages are not allowed to sell artificial goods, and they cannot create money with spells.
The closest thing I could come up with - apart from inflation via stuffing by juice - is self-inflation: the lady inflates, but nothing is entering her, so her mass stays the same even if she pops. That has to be turning into gas - no way to fill with liquids and still have a weight like a slim hourglass. ^_^
edit: umm... I was wrong, sorry. See the post below ^_^
Isn't it obvious? Is happened because the extremely concentrated dessicated blueberry in the gum caused all the water in her to be absorbed into the gum, this led to a fluid imbalance, causing her body to absorb water from the surrounding air, making the gum swell further, again to keep equalibrium her body had to absorb yet more water until the balance was resolved, unfortunately for her causing extreme swelling and blueberryness.
You're looking for articles on it? It's fantastical. That's really all you need to know.
