Now, this isn't exactly an issue, but I figured it was worth asking, but I find that this site is much much slower than other websites I visit. Why is that? I don't really know much about servers or websites, but I was just curious.

The site has always been on the slow side (one downside of self-hosting), but has been slower than usual recently. I haven't had time to look into the issue yet, but hopefully I'll be able to improve things once we're clear of the holiday season.
Would it help if I threw some money your way? I don't make a ton, but i'm willing to do something like $10 a month or possibly more.

Historically I've been resistant to taking money. Once the site becomes a commercial ventures, various complications arise. I've given some thought to Patreon. It's an interesting system that allows a lot of flexibilty; the site could remain free and anyone who felt like donating could. Don't know how much interest there is, though.
I never really thought about it being commercial, I just know that because it's self hosted, there's going to be some costs involved and I'd like to help out with that. I just don't think that people really think about donating; I always have, but that's just been my mindset. I don't expect others to think the same way I do. As for Patreon, while i've heard about it, I can't say I know enough about it to reccomend or chat about it. That being said, I have donated on there, and should you choose to start that up, I'd be happy to help support you on it. If not, my offer still stands, though I prefer to use Paypal only.
It's pretty hit or miss, but yeah, most of the time the site is extremely slow, but then again it does invoke nostaliga of the good old dial-up days.
