Obviously, she deserved to learn her lesson. She disobeyed her orders, and she paid the price... But I think that Veruca was more deserving of it, the bratty little shit. For all we know, Violet could have very well exploded... if I recall correctly, all Veruca had to suffer was getting dumped into the trash with a few rotten-smelling eggs.
Did Violet deserve her punishment at the factory? If not who did? Or should she have had worse
Part of me finds sympathy with Violet and her absurdly harsh punishment, but there is a more malicious side that loves the fact she blatently ignored Wonka and thus completely deserves her blueberry fate. "She deserved worse" could have easily happened in a different scenario, either by bursting or remaining a blueberry forever. She's lucky to survive the tour despite being a purple skinned freak for the rest of her life.
Hmmmm... violet almost exploded as a blueberry, and veruca was almost roasted in a furnace falling down a garbage chute. Honestly, I think it would be funny if the gum did nothing, so as violet goes to the garbage chute, and as she drops the 3 course gum, her record breaking gum falls down too, so she jumps down the chute XD
As for veruca, she could be all excited about never having to wait for food again. She could just eat a stick of gum and get all the flavors without the time to prep the food.
Beautiful thread with an awesome question!

Thinking about it, she probably got a very good deal out of it. I could easily imagine that once she got older, she would become a celebrity, maybe even a model, because of her exotic-looking blue skin. Mike TeeVee got really tall and even Wonka makes a joke of him becoming a baseball star, and Augustus Gloop goes off chocolate for life, which hopefully makes him a healthy young man. Funnily enough, I reckon Veruca got the worst deal - all she got was stinky, and the need for a bath. But she's so rich, there's probably nothing beneficial Wonka could do for her anyway.
As a kid, I freaked out at the Augustus Gloop bit, then became inconsolable at the Violet bit, so much so that my family had to turn the video off. I missed the part about her getting 'juiced' and thought she was trapped that way forever. It was only when I read the book later that I learned the effect wasn't permanent.... and realised I was somewhat dissapointed about that.
I never really looked at it that way. They learned lessons and got in-advertent benefits of it. Veruca though, there's a few choice words for her, but I try to keep this 18+ site family friendly!
Wait-what?....
I double post every time. Sorry everyone.
idont think its a punnishmet, she did it herself. if willy wonka forced her to eat it it would be a punnishmet.
but if she did not eat it, meby we never known of blueberry-inflation.
Violet carried on chewing, which could be seen as complicity. What if she realised and secretly wanted it?
Veruca should of gotten inflated but since she wore a dress it would of been hard to inflate her on screen
