Huge Inflatable Latex Suit burst (video)

My local friend Zaelgolin had uploaded a new video yesterday I thought was worth sharing here. He got an inflatable suit from Squeak Latex a while back and inflated it until it popped!

Figured it was worth sharing

Poor suit couldn't stand a chance. RIP in pieces

Interesting find!

I'd be curious to see if you filled the suit with helium how much of a difference it would make on the total weight of the suit and person wearing it. Probably won't be much but you never know..maybe with lots of helium in the suit might make a little difference :)

I'd like to try that with my inflatable suit in time, but to do that would cost a ton of money, the amount I can't quite remember but it'd be in the $100's anyways.

I hate to burst your "balloon", but you will feel no difference. It takes 5000 balloons of helium to lift a person weighing 50 kg:

This is true but I was thinking for myself my suit might be able to hold 100 balloons worth of helium, which according to the math you stated would make me 2.2 pounds lighter. It's not much but it could feel different regardless (like wearing a jacket. It's not much heavier but you notice the difference with it off. Perhaps the same would apply in a latex suit).

I've heard that filling a suit with helium does feel different from normal air.  The top of the suit fills first and, in full body suits, can cause the suit around the head to already begin ballooning out while the legs remain mostly flat.

That might be interesting.

That's why I would want to try it with a thicker latex inflatable suit. The contradiction to that though is that the latex would be heavier so I'd need more helium.
