Most of us are probably aware of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical that's been playing at London's West End for nearly 3 years now. It's semi-sweet but still alright. Well it did good enough that it is finally getting a move across the Atlantic to Broadway set to open February of next year. Since the musical had some kinks in it too big to ignore Warner Bros. has decided to basically re-tool the musical on its way here. I was looking for content when I accidentally bumped into this page.

It's an audition advertisement for the musical with auditions set for the end of the month. Naturally I was curious and looked up Violet's role. They're casting adults. They're casting adults as kids. Finally some official Violet material where she is an adult barring that shitty opera from a few years ago. Interesting to not is that out of all the characters her and her father are the only ones with a specific ethnicity sought after. African-American. Violet in the West End musical tended to be black but more merely minority than anything. There was actually an mini-uproar in England because their musical also sought a black Violet and many saw this as racist. Either way this is great.
Black women tend to be vastly underrepresented as inflation subjects as our community and now of age women are going to play Violet in the biggest stage on earth Broadway. Let's hope they make her blueberrification amazing. The West End Violet had an amazing initial inflation costume though her final form left some to be desired. Let us see how this works y'all.
