hey! Ive been wanting to try out body inflation for awhile now and recently got myself a pump. It's just a typical electric air pump that you'd use for like a yoga ball or something but I don't know how clean it is. I'd like to make sure something isn't horribly dirty before I put it in my mouth so I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to go about cleaning one of these. Thanks!
Cleaning the pump
You shoud never put an electric pump in water. There are circuits and things inside that will be destroyed by the water. Of course if it's plugged in, you risk electrocution. Just don't. If you can, properly disassemble the pump and blow it out with compressed air. However, if you can't do that and it still worries you, just get a new one, it's much less hassle.
The tubing can be washed with water and/or a mild detergent. Just make sure it is well-rinsed and allowed to completely dry before using it again.
I speak from rather stupid experience.
It depends what kind of pump and how you're using it. You can probably just soak the tubing in hot soapy water then use the pump to blow the air out. Any bacteria leftover should be negligable, but that's assuming you got this device new and not used.
I'm just wondering for safety purposes, how powerful is this pump? How much air does it output? I find the safest method is getting an aquarium pump but if the output is really low then it shouldn't be an issue.
alright I just checked and it says high output, on top of that it's also used so I'm just going to wait until I can get an aquarium pump this one definetly won't work.
I think it's going to be the safest choice. Even if you're not going to use it in the other end, the bacteria could pose a problem, or oil residues and whatnot.
Aquarium pumps are pretty cheap, and you don't need to get a very powerful one. I think you can get a 10-20 gallon one and it should work fine.
I'd clean it with hot water, it should kill most of the bacteria
