Advice for the young and curious.

Hello friends!

I was curious if any of you had advice to give a young and blooming writer. Mainly about inflation themed things.

I like to think I'm a pretty good writer, But when it comes to inflation I feel a little lackluster. I'd love to add to the library we have here, But I want to be sure it's up to standard quality.

So, Advice?

Apologies about Necro-ing this thread, but here's what I've learned in my few months as an established writer on DA:

Write what you enjoy, and what you want to see- including how you see it playing out. It's not somebody else's story; it's yours- so it can be as unique and varied as you are! Don't stretch yourself too much at first, find a style that works for you and keep practising until you can really go off the wall with inflations. General grasp of english grammar and language is important of course, but you know that Margeret :)

In general: describe it like you would desire to feel it; if it makes you smile to read it- keep it! Talk to fellow authors a bunch and have them critique your work, but always remember it is yours first and foremost.

I would recommend starting with the Stress Relief series :) They're my first, and favorite.

I would also recommend that many times, go simple rather than go big.

Some writers think they're God's gift to storytelling, and just overload descriptions (seriously, we don't need 4 paragraphs dedicated to a girl's breasts swelling from melons to beanbag chairs!).

I took a little inspiration from Dahl's storytelling of Violet swelling up. It seems like a long scene, but he simplifies her swelling up in just a few paragraphs, with one big one just going how she started swelling, and ended up as a big found ball.

The goal I feel, is giving enough descriptive information, but also giving your reader the chance to use their own imagination to fill in some of the blanks.

This suspense is terrible. I hope it will last- Oscar Wilde
