*kneeslides in* GUYS!... Yep, there's already a thread about this.
So since I'm fortunate enough to own a Nintendo Switch and the ARMS game, I personally can't wait to give this fighter a shot. Though I wonder how she'll actually play since I'm not one who's able to micromanage a lot of a character's "gimmicks", I guess.
One thing that I've noticed is that this character Lola Pop has earned a very warm welcome from the rest of the community who think her design is adorable. Though, from the video game sites I frequent, gamers are putting two-and-two together that "this reminds of the inflation fetish" and "I bet Deviantart is drooling over this", etc. So far I'm just nodding my head and saying "Haha yeah those darn expansion fanatics", but still, this opens a lot of gates - especially to fanart from what I can see. There might be a flavor of the year mascot in this regard.
And yet, the debate that's starting to form: Is she inflating herself, or just her costume, for protection?

Can confirm that on the news post that announced her, it mentions she's inflating her body. Well, I guess since all the characters have either mutations or augmentations that let them extend their arms really long, anything's possible.

In all honesty though, I love how she looks and fights. The triple nerf/stamp gun seems like a great way to annoy your opponent. The inflation is perfect as well, with her head pressing against her inflated body.
Nintendo really does know my weak spots, 'inflatable clown girls' definitely being one of them.

Will she awaken an inflation interest in some young people? Probably.
But is she breaking ground and being the first time the world has seen someone expand into a sphere? Not really... There are very few video game characters that outdo the popularity of movie characters (Mario vs. Violet), so Lola's nothing but a nod to this realm of ours. There needs to a lot more traction, a lot more heralding by inflationists, gamers and the normal crowd to build a legacy. Basically we've just got to start spraypainting Lola commissions on public property or something.
