Haven't seen much chatter about this yet, but DeviantArt user ShamefulRadio recently handed out this demo (the link is in the description of the deviation) of a 2D body inflation role-playing game.
The main mechanic is to beat up enemies with either your punches or wind magic 'til they're stunned, then initiate a small animation with Fwoompop Magic, and the target will puff up three times, burst and lie in a heap, knocked out. There's a good variety of enemies to try the magic on (mainly some feminine plants), and the main character herself is able to swell her belly up for some extra attacking power. The cutesy and cartoony aesthetic reigns supreme overall here; I compare it to EarthBound from the old Nintendo days, sort of like Undertale if you want a more recent comparison.
The game takes about 30 minutes to complete so far, but there seems to be a lot more characters, location, and story material in the works. Something to keep an eye out for!
I've heard that popping enemies results in getting less post-battle loot, sounds like a good way to balance the gameplay and "gameplay".
I wonder if there'll be an alternate ending for if you decide to pop or not pop everything in sight, then we can really start comparing this to Undertale. Can't wait for at least one gaming news outlet to publish such headlines as "This Totally Retro RPG Is Like Earthbound But With Inflation", then immediately proceeded by "The Alt-Right Has A New Fetish, And It's Terrifying" because lol gaming journalism.
Personally I'm gonna hold off until the full game is released because I dislike demos of story-based games, but just looking at some of the stuff that's been posted around has got me excited. Definitely would pay something like $5 on Steam for this.
