Are the clown exterminators clowns running around inflating and popping people, or literal "clown exterminators" who get paid to run around blowing up and bursting clowns?
Or is it intentionally ambiguous? Something something, duality of man...

The latter, literal sort... with the twist that the exterminators have to take their own turns being clowns at times, and risk being exploded by their friends and colleagues. I'm thinking in terms of the drug that makes it possible to inflate someone needing a long usage time to build up in their tissues beforehand, not something that can be slipped to the unsuspecting mark on the spur of the moment.

Damn, that sounds like a dream job. Pumping colorful blimps up until they swell, creak, and explode sounds fun. And occasionally clowning around and getting the thrill of risking getting blown bigger and bigger and bigger until going kaboom is just icing on the cake. Of course, you wouldn't want to burst, but some big bloating might make your clown act even better, as long as you didn't let it go too far. Was that supposed to be a downside?
Anyway, sounds like a job that has pretty heavy turnover, for obvious reasons. Where do I sign up?
