A tease for the future
Hello again.
It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? Long enough that you might not remember me, I’d bet. That’s okay. We have ways of bringing back things that have slipped your mind, if we need to. But maybe a little reminder would help.
You’ve always had a good imagination. That’s what I remember liking about you first. It’s what drew me to you, even now. But then, sometimes an imagination just isn’t enough on its own, is it?
That’s where I came in. You called me Auria, and I was your Muse. I don’t mean that in a literary way; I’m talking about an actual spirit who visited you to help you transform your ideas into work. You see, you were thinking about… well, let’s stop dancing around the subject. You wanted a woman who would be a balloon with you.
It’s all right. I’m not going to judge. It’s my job to help people like you have those fantasies. And I loved it. Oh, there were some interesting times here and there, but when I inflated for you, when you made me so round, I felt an exhilaration beyond just the physicality of fullness. It was that I was full for you.
We’ve kept in touch, you know. You wouldn’t have recognized me in all your dreams, but I was there, with me guiding your mind and you guiding my flesh. I technically wasn’t supposed to visit you, as you weren’t trying to create something from the sweet experiences that vanished upon waking, but I missed the touch of your imagination and its effects on me as I swelled under your direction.
That was selfish of me, I’ll admit it. And now I’ve gone and done something that needs your help even more, and a psychic visit won’t do. This time, I need you here, with me.
I’ve had An Idea.
Okay, the time for another Musings story came and went long ago (perhaps as an anniversary release, yeesh). Maybe actually writing a little bit of this will spur me to do something about it rather than have a rough skeleton of a story gathering cobwebs in my mind. While the primary motivation for this story is to write for myself, is there enough of an audience for this here to bother submitting it when it's done?

When I said "a tease," I guess I really meant it. This requires something of an explanation, and a question for you.
When I originally put out this thread, I'd had a general plot outline and some of the initial story text. I'd begun actually writing the thing, got partway through, then realized things were getting out of hand with the sheer amount of words in my document. I stopped writing, put it away, looked at it every once in a while, and so on. I revised my outline and realized that splitting it into two parts works really well to keep them within what I'd consider an acceptable size for a "short" story, while hitting story beats, characterization, several inflation sequences, and what I think's an actually pretty nice cliffhanger between them... Just like a real writer!
But I have to consider the environment this is all taking place in, namely an incredibly niche, somewhat aging fetish site with a library section. I fully expect users to visit to get a quick stimulation, then bounce. Much like the Muse herself, just the first half of the story has ballooned out of control, currently sitting at nearly 15k words (just under 27 pages). I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I don't think it's what people come here for. I don't think it's overwritten, but I'll freely admit it's a hell of a lot that you might find to be a slog if you don't care about the story and are looking for the "good bits," and I wouldn't blame you one bit.
While there's always the option of "Man, nobody's going to read that here, you blowhard, go post it on DeviantArt or something," I wanted to ask users here if they even want that. Hell, LVKane can respond with "Man, I'm not reading that whole thing before posting it, etc...". But the series has had a personal history for me and I've only posted my stories here because I've purposely kept zero online presence. It's a sequel, not another inflation scene with the same names on characters. Slapping it up on DA feels rude to people here who actually would like it, not in the least because I'd have to actually post something on DA and then probably put up the previous stories too so that new audience has context.
So, while it's incredibly self-indulgent to even be writing this, I'm looking at what I've written and asking if you even want it, and if you do, would you want it here?

Writing a lot of words for the sake of writing a lot of words is borderline masturbatory. But if it takes a lot of words to accomplish what you want to do, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. You should post it, and wherever you decide to post it, it's something you can point to and say that you did it and were proud of it regardless of whether anyone else likes it.
As for where to post it, why not both here and DA? Sadly the library here has kind of lost relevance, and I stopped crossposting my stories a while ago.

Sure, you're more than welcome to submit it here. Although I admit it might take a while for me to review and post it.
Readers of the longer-form stories tend to be fewer in number but show more dedication to the craft. You'll definitely find an audience here.

The wysiwyg editor for the story submission seems to be inconsistent. Once I hit "submit" it stripped out all the italics from the text on the confirmation screen. Ah, well, you'll have to just assume where I wanted emphasis. That could have been my fault, but it's too late to go back and edit it.

Yeah, it's an issue when going from a word processor to HTML. Online HTML editors tend to limit outputs to a subset of standard HTML tags, and the way most word processors construct their HTML is decidedly not standard. It's not your fault, you're just collateral damage in an ideological war over informatics that's been an annoyance for over twenty years (I could seriously rant at length about this, but that's for another day).
Two bits of good news:
- The wysiwyg editor stores the original HTML and just filters it for display.
- There are tools that exist purely to deal with the discrepancies between how word processors use HTML and how HTML is supposed to be used.
Musings 4: New Ideas has been posted, hopefully in a form that closely matches the author's original intent. Thank you for your contribution.
