Inflation on a budget?

Long time lurker here. Was wondering if anyone knows how to mimic body inflation when they can't spend a ton of money on suits? I use balloons at the minute, but they aren't the greatest ngl, was wonfering if anyone had some better expertise? Thanks

Padding yourself up with pillows and cushions is what I did. You could also try creating a body suit made out of garbage bags taped together and inflated with a hair dryer.

I'd go with trash bags. My local has loads of different ones so once you suss a technique you can experiment; I discovered garden refuse sacks about 3 - 4 months in. They're basically double the size and made of a sturdier material so less likely to tear/rupture. You can make a simple underlayer for a suit by sticking a few together, there's an old post with a good example of how to make a cheap inflatable suit using tape and trash bags, from 2010: https://bodyinflation.org/node/24239#comment-16507

For suits I'd say zentai/morph. You can pick up a morph dirt cheap especially if you keep an eye out for sales around seasonal events where costumes are a thing (I.e. Haloween). They're great because they fit nicely and are super stretchy, so combine that with the trash bag underneath and you've got your suit on a budget :)

zentai suit, and beachballs are the cheapest. A 48 inch beachball and a xl or larger zentai will make you huge.

I used to use a large trash bag as a budget inflation bladder...to seal the trash bag around the air hose (usually plastic tubing like aquarium tubing or whatever), I wouldn't use tape or string.  I'd actually cut a heavy-duty rubber band and wrap that around the neck of the trash bag to seal it to the tube.  I'd also tie the two remaining corners in small knots close to the corners themselves to make the bag more 'rounded' when it inflated fully.
