Prose That Blows X -- We’re Dedicated Swallowers of Fashion

http://prosethatblows.wordpress.com/

Sorry about the long delay.  The contest is now open!

Pablote

I was thinking about entering the contest when the thread came up in the writer's den board.  Then, I see that I can write about stretchy clothes, which is totally one of my fetishes.

Bueno...

Here is an excerpt from the blog, to let you know what it is all about.

The tenth Prose that Blows is all about clothing, and specifically, what happens to it when the wearer begins to inflate. All kinds of clothing are welcome, from period dress to cosplay and from haute-couture to workwear but we do want to focus on a few aspects of clothing which are specific to inflation. These are:

Stretchy Clothing: Latex, wetsuits or just clothing which refuses to give up the fight; we want to hear about such things as how your inflatee’s clothing stretches and expands in tune with your inflatee, how that feels and whether it ever reaches its limit.

Squeezy Clothing: Tight, firm and constrictive clothing which can either start to strain and come apart as your inflatee stretches and it won’t, or begins to affect the shape of your inflatee as they bulge out around it. Again, how does the clothing react and how does your inflatee react to such restrictive clothing?

We will have a category for each of these as well as the standard sexiest category and an overall category. We will also have a category for the most creative choice of clothing to allow for any other crazy ideas you fashionistas of inflation have in mind.

Finally we will have a category for clothing destruction which will reward those writers for whom all this catwalk talk is too much and who need to retaliate in the most violent (towards clothes) way possible. So hopefully there is enough there for the fashion forward and plenty to please any fashion victims out there too.

I can't seem to access the general rules. Every time I try to click the link provided it says page not found. I tried searching, but didn't find them.

Sorted it, the general rules page was still a draft, but it's now published.

Hey all, just an update on progess. We have three entries so far. I was hoping for a few more, we have just over a week till the deadline, is anyone else working on any submissions.

There will be a possible extension to the deadline if it will result in a significant number of entries we wouldn't otherwise get.

Yrrall_Dlok1

only 3? wow thought there'd be more. I'm debating on writing something to submit, mostly getting to the write headspace being the issue

KorgFal

Im trying to finish up my entry...just cant seem to get much time to do so.  :P

I expect a lot of people will leave it to the last minute. Hopefully you'll get a bunch at the wire.

carnatic

Hopefully, but I would help to know in advance if people were planning on it. Like I say, we can extend the deadline if there's likely to be far too few stories.

I plan on writing a "stretchy" entry, should have it in by the deadline.

Redsnake

Poking at one myself, though it's a coinflip if I'll meet deadline.

THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!

The new deadline is the 30th of September, that's an extra month. Hopefully this will allow some people who are thinking of entering but unsure they will meet the deadline to enter, as well as allow an extra month to raise the profile of the competition and encourage more people to enter. I understand that August is a bad month for most people with holidays and all so hopefully September will be a little better.

It would be great if Luther were able to post the deadline extension to the main page of the site, to make sure as many people know as possible.

Just a reminder that there are now 10 days left to submit your story, and an update on submissions so far.

We have...

5 squeezy stories

1 stretchy story (come on guys, if stretchy clothing is your thing then we need you to write us a story)

We also have two authors who I hope get back to us with finished/reworked stories, both of these are also squeezy.

Yrrall_Dlok1

Do want to write something for the contest... but way way too busy

Could I get a rule clarification?  Our stories are to remain anonymous until the end of voting to prevent blind votes for one's favorite author(s).  To that end, you don't post your story anywhere else or claim your story until the contest ends.  However, I like to run my stories by other community members for help and advice.  My story is almost done, and is at the point that I would share it with one or two people.  Is this allowed? Can I show my story to someone else not participating in the contest for proofreading and general feedback purposes?

Personally we'd prefer it if people didn't do this, however we'll never know whether someone does or not so it just has to be one of those things, like speeding in the sticks that will happen. Certainly it doesn't threaten to derail the contest in the way claiming it publicly would. Consider it a grey area. If it were to somehow transpire that someone had solicited votes from their friends in this way then we could act on it, however if you've done what you say you're gonna do, and then your friends either don't vote any differently because they know which one is yours, or don't vote at all then no harm has been done, so I hope that even if the latter sometimes happens, it doesn't lead to the former.

In terms of the spirit of the contest though, and encouraging writing, the point is more in the fact you have written a story and people have been encouraged to read and leave feedback, through the comtest. Not so much about the winning, so I don't feel that people should need to 'try too hard' to win, and get a competitive advantage. Or feel that a story should be checked over before being entered. You'll get the feedback you want whichever way you choose.

Do what you think is right.

throwaway261

Per your advice, carnatic, I've sent in my story dry.  Nobody else has seen it.  Don't have time for anyone else to see it, anyway.  Thank you for the clarification.

Um, the deadline has come and gone now, I was wondering if we were going to see the stories soon?  I know they are busy, I don't want to bother them, but I hadn't heard a word and just wanted to know if we even got enough stories to start voting.

carnatic

Sorry, it's been one of those weeks, I've been doing 12 hour shifts with work, but I'll get to it tomorrow. Notso is around too now I think (he was away for most of the period between launch and now)

carnatic

OK, we're low on stretchy stories, if anyone (who hasn't already entered) was working on one and just missed the deadline or can otherwise submit a stretchy story by Monday, please PM me to let me know. If nobody has PMed me by Sunday (I'm away for the weekend) then the stories we have so far will go up and voting will commence.

carnatic

Unfortunately yes, voting is now open. But be sure to look into the next one :)
