As someone who owns the game (and has put it aside indefinitely for much more interesting fare), the scene really isn't that appealing. The landlord in question is more of a bird than a human, and for those still interesting after sayin' that, it's a fade-in/fade-out scenario to her just being more rounded out than before.
I would suggest finding something elsewhere. Unfortunately, i don't have any real suggestions myself.

The problem the guy addresses (as I read this review a long time ago), is that the game somtimes is not clear about what it wants you to do in certain puzzles.
That's one way to raise the rent.
