Inflation Audio Drama

Hi everybody!

So, this idea has been floating around in my head for a while now, but I've only just decided to try and put it into action now.

Basically, a whole group of us get together and record an inflation audio drama. We can make up characters, be ourselves or use pre-existing characters.

After we get a good few people, I'll work on writing the script and we can start!

If you're interested, please PM me or add me on MSN.

Can't wait to see who's interested!

This actually sounds quite interesting...I've told I should go into voice acting as friends but mostly for my cartoony and action voices - this should be a good idea....

Awesome! Next time I can get on MSN and you're on, we'll talk further!

Its been tried and suggested a million times, yet nobody has done anything, ever.

Well, I hope to actually do it.

Just because it's failed to get off the ground before doesn't mean it won't get off the ground this time. All I need is two or three more people (depending on who all would be interested), and I'll do it.

I like this guy's style...determination is the key :)

Well if you want to get it off the ground I might as well advise you on why it's failed in the past. Basically unless you pay for it, you can't get female voice actors.

There is Cyndi Irresistable, who charges for it, and then there aren't many women in the community who are prepared to break the wall of silence and have their voices recorded, and those that are prepared never seem to possess a microphone. so best of luck with that.

Carn basically said it. I produced Cyndi's recordings, and added sound effects for her private clients on a case-by-case basis. Some of those came out sounding like one-woman radio dramas...and it was just one woman for the reasons cited.

Sorry I can't lend my voice but there's a good chance it would be recognized. But I can offer some more advice:

We do have more females in the community than last time this came up in earnest, so maybe you will find someone new. But it does seem to be very difficult to find a woman who is a) talented b) willing and c) possesses a quality microphone. This was the problem with Ringmaster; the spirit and willingness was there but the recordings were very lo-fi.

Skype is easy but not necessarily good for this kind of thing (though the Pamela plugin will let you record calls, you get no flexibility). I would also say that USB microphones have come a long way from where they were just a few years ago. Use Skype for rehearsals, but have each person record WAVs/AIFFs locally, then send the finished files to someone to assemble and produce. The project will sound a ton better.

I also recommend adapting an existing story from the archives here at the site. Get the author's permission, but many of them lend themselves to an audio drama treatment. No need to reinvent the wheel. Just find one everybody likes and then approach the creator.

Well, when I tried to make an audio story I wasn't even particularly after a talented actress, or one with a quality microphone... just a willing actress with any form of microphone.

There were two parts in my script but the idea was that one actress (if I couldn't find two) could do both parts with a little digital trickery to further give the impression that one of the voices was a different girl.

I still think this technique could work, I'd advise you to take what you can get though. And Me, I123 and Korgfal all have libraries of sound effects, I'm willing to donate mine to your project.

KorgFal

I have actually completed one audio story recently. The girl who did it for me did well enough, considering this was someone I found via clips4sale. I used Audacity to mix in the sound effects (thanks to Inflate123 for the library of sound he sent me once upon a time!) and it turned out alright I think. Not great quality, acting or my final sound mixing...but I was able to get rid of the few sound anomalies from her recording. Anyways, once I get it uploaded I'll post a link here for those of you who want to hear it. I'm only semi-happy/proud of it mostly because I figured for $40 I would get acting quality on par with Cyndi, or at least close to it. Cyndi, in my opinion, is the greatest inflation actress this community has ever seen! Yeah, yeah, it's only voice work...but I can only imagine what it would be like to see her ACT! I don't mean inflation related necessarily, but just a standard stage play etc. Meh, side tracking here. In either case, I'm more then willing to contribute what I can.

Well, I'm happy that you're interested, KorgFal! Please PM me with further details.

I think that I'd only need one guy and one girl for it. I'll be doing a voice as well (I think), so we'll have three people in it.

I should still have my, um, infamous SFX library, and you're welcome to it if you want it, Crow. I can arrange a download or mailed disc.

For the record (since the use of my library caused some problems a year or so ago), I'm happy to share my sound library with other folks in the community who need inflation effects. All you really have to do is ask or express a need, and tell me what you're working on. I put a fair amount of effort into it so I like to sort of be aware of the context...even if I can usually guess the context. :)

Crow-453

That would be amazing, thank you, Inflate123! A download would probably be best.

Sorry Crow, forgot about this, but I can post the download as soon as I figure out one stupid element. I can't find the disc with the sound effects library on it (doh) but I believe it's in one of several archives -- it's not gone, just misplaced.

Have you found other folks to help?

Crow, I found the audio files. PM me when you need 'em.
