I too would like to know what prompted his sudden disappearance. I was quite fond of his work as well. For all the stories I have saved to my HD I seem to have neglected to save several of his more recent ones that arent in the archive here. As of yet I have been unable to find them posted elsewhere.

It's pretty bizarre to me that someone who has been in the community for so long could suddenly do a complete 180. The only thing I can think of is that he's been through some sort of personal trauma, and he's taking his anger out on the BI community.

I'm guessing the person he's involved with found out (possibly by outing himself) and the person left him/threatened to leave him.

That could explain why he left the community, but if that was the case, he wouldn't have to leave such a vitriolic goodbye note.
While we're on the topic, does anyone have a copy of his last story? The one about the Asian girl inflated by a cream puff? The Internet Archive stopped archiving his site around 2007, and I didn't save a copy because I never imagined Carnatic of all people disappearing.

He deleted his account here, too, so they'd have to have access to his entire computer to pull that off. Also, you'd expect him to make some effort to regain access to his accounts in that case.

That was Critical Volume-who is very much still around. Carnatic wrote some great stories including the remotes series. His drawings were a bit crude but still decent. Definitely not his best contribution though.

Wow...I haven't been around in awhile. This is sad news! Carnatic and I have talked for a few years...RPd, brainstormed, shared ideas, etc. I, too, find it odd that he'd suddenly find it so "f'ed up" and repulsive...he was usually one of the most active/creative people I talk to in the community :(
