Probably I'm minority here, but random images on the right look annoying to me. How about a button to disable them?

Well, I just want this feature to be customizable by user preferences. These images may be good, but they make forum totally unsafe for work and even for home, if other people are around.

First: This site is not safe for work. Exceedingly unsafe. As in it's gotten people fired from their jobs.
That having been said, you can select which blocks appear in the sidebars in your account config. Go to My Account -> Edit and near the bottom of the page you'll find the section for Block Configuration.
