Price of latex going up?

This price inflation is getting rediculous.

I've been looking at getting a new suit, and lately I've noticed prices for latex clothing is going through the roof, about 3 years ago I could order a chinese inflatable latex suit (a big one, custom made to size!) for about $280. Now they're asking $380. I'm wishing I hadn't put ones I bought a few years back on eBay!

Though the price of UK based manufacturers have stayed about the same. Is there some latex shortage I don't know of, or is it just lack of competition in the market for rubber clothing with certain bigger companies buying out the competition?

It is a niche market so I don't think there are thousands of companies trying to outbid each other. Maybe the quality went up in the product?

I never got into the whole latex fetish personally so I would just assume?

Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men.

It is,

I'm still having some problems with my workshop overseas. It's why I haven't been able to produce or trade anything for months. Squeaks future is in the air right now.

But, the issue is cost of labor is going up. As factories have more demand and make more money the employees and those creating the items ask for more money. Thus the cost goes up. Most of my suits will increase by a couple hundred if and when I come back into business. Just the world ecconomy right now.

That and the workshops themselves are trying to crack the western market. So they increase their selling price to compete with other western companies. They still end up being a lot cheaper, but not crazy cheap like they used to be.

As for quality, price and quality do sometimes go hand in hand. Catfish for example are still the cheapest from what I can tell, but you'll be lucky if it lasts you more than a couple of years or arrives correctly. Europen companies like Blackstyle and so on are expensive, but use MD latex and their build quality is amazing. I like to think of myself as somewhere in middle, but I have designs you can't find anywhere else and always try to cator to our group. With suits like the blueberry ball etc.

Hope that helps clear up why costs are going up. Just the world market right now, people who make this stuff simply want more money.
When China becomes to expensive, things will shift to South America and India.

Hisssssssssssss.. ...uh oh!!

Thanks bb. I know we used to converse when we both had businesses selling rubber. You know who I was using, I still had one of their suits until about a year ago, and it was still going strong.

However I'm pondering learning to make stuff myself as I'm pretty methodical and practical, I like engineering, so I'm sure I can put my mind to latex, and yes, if I sell it it'll be expensive. The price of rubber has seemed to be stable when I look at historical prices, if anything it's become cheaper in real terms. You're right, and it's also consolidation of manufacturers reducing local competition and the price of labour going up, along with them cracking the world market rather than using resellers.
