History of real life inflation devices

It might be interesting to collect when real life inflation devices started to look as they look today - and how the process looked before that time (it if was at all possible).

I'm pretty sure most inflation devices today are repuposed from their original intentions. Bike pumps are meant to inflate bike tires, aquarium pumps for aerating aquariums, enema bags for their obvious medical applications, etc.

Just a little more. You can take it...I hope...

Well, I can't remember the name, but in hospitals they use this artificial insufflation device that's specifically made for inflating the large intestine for imaging, and that also uses CO2 which is less crampy and gets absorbed into the body as well; to be exhaled by the lungs. Inflation was never really meant for use on the body, and since it was such a small group no one worked on a legitament device for home consumers (that I am aware of anyways).
