Earliest female inflation?

Okay, this is more of a historical question, for no good reason other than I just felt like asking...

I know male inflation in media has been around for quite a while (e.g., from the Three Stooges (Dizzy Pilots, 1943) and Laurel and Hardy (Jitterbugs, same year))...likely there are earlier instances of male inflation in film and other media...

I was wondering, what was the earliest appearance of some form of female inflation in film or whatever...? I don't know why this presently intrigues me, just mundane curiosity I guess...

I know it's not female, but the earlist inflation I know is this one from 1925, silent movie era.

Considering this is pretty much as early as film gets, I don't think you'd get one anything before this date. As I said, I know it's male inflation, but thought it was interesting non the less from it's film date.

Hisssssssssssss.. ...uh oh!!

Interesting. Quite enjoyable.

I know another male inflation that is even older. In Felix the cat cartoon "Felix minds the kid" from 1922, a baby gets a balloon blowback, and floats into the sky.

Some would say Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory from 1971 with Violet's blueberrification which has unarguably became the most famous female inflation scene in history but there are some earlier ones.

The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom from 1968, three years before Willy Wonka, has a scene involving inflatable bras worn by women of nearly all nationalities. Though the bras begin to malfunction and quickly inflate out of control, causing the women wearing them - who previously enjoyed the experience - to panic as they grow too large and then begin to lift off into the air.

There has to be earlier than that but I've never saw anything dating that far back, though there probably is they just haven't been uncovered yet. As men were the centre of the entertainment industry years and years ago, specifically starring in silent gag reel films, they would have experienced inflation on screen before women did but I'm presuming some of those short films from the 1920s or even earlier may have depicted breast inflation since it's likely they experimented with it. Cartoons really seem to be where inflation that early kicked off.

Understandable. Part of me finds it hard to believe that female inflation in movies or cartoons (both the most likely earliest sources) didn't show up until the late 1960s; but I also know movies, cartoons and television adhered to a far stricter sense of decorum...even showing pregnant women was very much avoided.

As for cartoons, it still seems most if not all of the inflation-related sight gags were male oriented.

Yeh, definitely a lot more male than female inflation out there despite the huge demand for the latter.

I can't verify if there is inflation (as opposed to stuffing) in this, but "The Slim Princess" is the earliest I've read about for films. The IMDB mentions "... he dresses her in an inflatable rubber suit and stuffs her cheeks with marshmallows ..." .  One can only assume that inflation occurs.

From 1915, and remade in 1920, from what I found in the web

"Peculiar Penguins" 1934

It's not human, but it's a lady, a penguin lady. Another penguin feeds her with a puffer fish, which inflates and deflates inside her. Very nice one. Here's an image: Link
It's probably not the earliest, but I think the oldest I've seen.

A couple years ago, in this same forum, someone mentioned seeing a visual gag in an old vintage image, which depicted a man using a pump to fill a tire, but a woman close to him gets her shoulder pads inflated instead of the tire.

You are completely correct...I had forgotten about penguin cartoon (and was totally unaware of the date); I'll have to look up the other reference (I've never heard of it), but I think this might qualify as the earliest mainstream female inflation incident...

Regarding the other reference,
check comment #3, second paragraph in this thread:
"Question for Older Phreaks (50 plus?)"
No tire though. He mentions a bike pump, so guess I mixed things. While not exactly that one, here are several caricatures of those fashions througout the first half of 1800(one called "Inflating a Lady"):

That is definitely quite an old photo. Nice comical inflation twist/sight-gag as well...
