Recieving Comments on Posted Content

First off, i'm not ranting or anything i'm simply curious how others feel about the situation of recieving comments/not enough comments on their content. If you've ever created something or posted something to any site, does it bother you if you don't get many comments on it? If you see it being viewed and favorited by hundreds but 1 or no comments at all? As a "community", I feel it helps encourage more (and better) content to be created by the posters if their work recieves attention and feedback. Any thoughts from you guys? :)

(And yes I could've made this into a poll, but i'd rather hear people's thoughts than just see a "yes" or a "no" lol.

I usually don't comment when I have nothing else to add to the conversation, or I would rather avoid starting controversy. I'd rather us all get along, and if that means biting my tongue once in a while, so be it. Otherwise, a view and a like should be enoough to convey my opinion of something. Why do you need more? Clearly I saw it and liked it. If I don't have anything else to say, what good does it do to reiterate that?

I'm not trying to be a jerk about it. I understand how you feel. Good feedback makes you feel good about what you're doing, and thus you're more likely to do more of it. The plain and simple truth is most people just don't feel like commenting. It used to be the number of comments was a good measuring stick for how well your content is doing. No more. Don't be too upset when no one comments, just be happy that people are looking.

Just a little more. You can take it...I hope...

Well, for me, I thrive on comments so I know what to continue doing and what to change when I create new stuff. Ideally on here I try to diversify my polls so that everyone on here can vote for stuff, and when something doesn't get much responses I usually avoid making more of that stuff. It's a big personal thing because if I put time into things, I want to get as much attention to it as possible so it doesn't feel like I wasted time doing it.

(Not on here too often, replies might be slow.)

I think a lot of people in our community take the approach of "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything".  If it either sucks or just isn't their thing, they will move on without comment.  I know I do and 90% of what I come across falls into one of those two categories.

With the other 10% though, I usually try to go out of my way to write a quick note of approval and encouragement, especially if it's from a contributor that isn't well known.  Unfortunately not everyone does that.  There was a story I wrote last year that I was particulary proud of, but even saying it received a "meh" response is being generous.  Still kind of bums me out.

I have a deviantart page where I posted expansion stories and have just started uploading blueberry stories as well as artwork similar to blueberrysolo's stuff. I get plenty of faves and views but I rarely recieve  comments as well.

Double makes a good point saying that a lot of people take the "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything". approach. It's probably better not to hear back from a bunch of people who hate the stories or artwork but it would be great to hear from the 20+ people who faved the work.

I think getting comments back from people gives  the person some incentive to keep creating whatever it is they're doing.

I never expect comments, but I always enjoy them. Even negative comments are often useful. My favorite comments, though I haven't gotten many of them, are the ones that "play along" with the premise of the artwork or story, if that makes sense.

I have yet to receive any comments on my stuff at all, at all.

I really, really enjoyed those stories you wrote about psychotic lesbians who owned a ski lodge and spent (presumably) all their time blowing people up.

And those other stories that are basically about a sexy female inflation assassin of some type blowing up guys with bad taste in Halloween costumes/crooked businessmen.

Honestly, female on male inflation and huge explosions in general are both awesome, and your work never disappoints.

It's no lie, when I wrote I ADORED comments.  I'm female,I have esteem issues and require a huge amount of external validation.
