Toxicity in the Community?

I may be the only one, maybe its just the few artists I follow, but I have been noticing a disturbing incress in toxic 'personas', I say that instead of people, as the internet has a way of bringing out the worst in all of us if we elt it, in our growing community. I realise this is inevitable, but I was curious if maybe I'm just being overly pessimistic, or if any one else has noticed this incressing trend.

This is by no means a thread to shame people, I want to establish that, I simply want to start a discussion about our community and see if this is indeed a thing. So far I have noticed about four artists that seem to go out of their way to just blurt out either hateful speech, Backwards rhetoric, or some form of grandious narcissism. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, there are some toxic persons here, and not just artists. But you find them everywhere in the world. Best is to ignore them and not give fuel to their hatred.

Any heavy dependence makes it hard to control your emotions and urges - be it a dependence on drugs, games, orgasm or anything else. It's an established medical fact that such people have instant outbursts of anger that they can't supress. Good news is that it can be healed completely if dependence is weakened and put under control.

I have noticed it as well, and I've also noticed that some of those "personas" have outright admitted to being antagonistic solely for the purpose of personal entertainment. There's really nothing that can be done about these kinds of people. As John said, it's best to just ignore them and don't give them fuel for their rants.

I for one am aware that I can come across as confrontational sometimes, and I am more than happy to admit when I am wrong on a certain subject. I'm also more than ready to issue an apology when someone is offended by what I've said. Afterall, we're all in the same boat, why stand up and start rocking it?

OP isn't about BodyInflation or anyone of us - there aren't 4+ artists here

I feel like I encounter more circlejerk-y meme-spamming types, at least on dA anyway.

It's unfortunate, but it happens more than I would like. I have gained very little, if any thing, by engaging with these kind of people. It's best to just to grit your teeth and bear it, for the most part. There are always exceptions.

My problem is that we could be these people. To say "those people" defers accountability. There's no fair play in that.

I suspect it's just like anything else, people are people, some good some bad, most indifferent.  I've met a few really neat people through this fetish and this website.  I've met some folks that are utter knobs.

Likewise, I'm certain, there are people out there that think I'm a super nice inflatible cheerleader (and I am)  and some that think I am a top shelf bitch (and I am).

My point is, it doesn't matter.  One is not obliged to get along with everyone just because there is one common interest.  Get along with the people you like, ignore the ones you don't.  I don't think it's worth much more effort than that.

No need for such harsh self-criticism - Dave doesn't mean BodyInflation, right Dave? There aren't 4+ artists here

I think all of us in Luther's cosy boat "BI.org" are getting along.

Elsewhere, in broader world - everything is possible, but hey it's a broader world! Spammers, trolls, griffins, adventurers...
