So today I bought an aquarium pump at Petco. It's some cheap Penn-Plax battery-powered unit. It works fine, no leakage or lack of pressure, but before I stick it up my ass I wanted to know if anyone else here has done something similair and if anybody has some kind of rudimentary guidelines for this (I already get the whole "if it hurts, turn it off" thing, I mean, that's just common knowledge).

Thanks! This helps a ton! I'll be careful not to fall asleep while inflating (thought I have no intentions of doing that).

You're most certainly welcome.
You probably won't, but nevertheless don't do this when sleepy and don't pleasure yourself when inflating. Anytime after you stop the flow is fine but you need to still have focus over it.
Hey there, I actually wrote up an FAQ on this I'd like it if you could read in its entirety. I've been doing this off and on for around 6 years, and I've noted no short-term health effects. Regardless, please give it a full read and ask me any other questions you may have.
