Ryan Gosling Reportedly Interested in Wonka Prequel

Gosling is reportedly interested in playing the title role. I'm convinced whoever plays this role will end up playing WW in an inevitable CatCF reboot. So what are your thoughts? Can you see the La La Land alum do it? I definitely he can for a prequel but it would be weird to see him actually helm the factory tour.

Actually, speaking strictly from a pretentious film snob standpoint, this could be a really interesting thing. Not Ryan Gosling being in it, but just a prequel to one of the best surrealist kids films ever. Maybe we'll learn how Wonka got his factory, Or why that fucking tunnel exists, Or why that tunnel goes through the leftovers from Yellow Submarine, or why that Wonka decided he wanted to build a screaming nightmare tunnel in the middle of his candy factory.

Or, It's gonna blow, like most reboots/prequels.

I can see what this thought may be exciting on theis board... the girl with the gum blueberry inflation....

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but remember the fact that the inflation was a byproduct of an experimental chewing gum.  A one time thing.  In a prequile there will most likely be no factory yet, or will likely be in the construction phase, so the inflation gum will not be around yet  either.

I look for the storyline to be about how WW rose to be candy maker extrodinair.  Maybe how he found the Ooompa Loompas?  Things like that. In the Johnny Depp remake, the illuded to his father being a dentist and a strict no sweets kind of person.  Maybe that will be expanded upon as well.

Hi Wynonna, nice to meet you :-) .

Willy Wonka does mention that he tried out the blueberry gum on Oompa-Loompas first and says that "they all became blueberries".  That could be included but it probably won't be because very often films have only vaguely related or unrelated plots to what they are supposed to be and the title is used to attract people.
