I'm trying to make a mix tape of inflation related music. There's always the ever popular "pump my body to the top" and "I must increase my bust" by Lords of acid, but can anybody give me more suggestions?
inflation music
Yello's "Oh Yeah" might get you in the mood.
"My Girlfriend is Inflatable" by Weird Al.
Is that an actual song? I'm a big Weird Al fan and I've never heard that. But then again, I'm known for not knowing a joke when I see it.
The best song I know of is Iron Maiden's "Fear Of The Dark", though it's hardly inflation-related, and not very soothing at all. But it still owns. Best inflation-related song, though? How about "99 Luftballoons"...my brother showed me that song...it's in German, so I can't understand it, but I still like it.
lol '99 Red Balloons' (the English version) by Nina Hagen must be among the most famous one hit wonders out there... obviously it didn't quite 'take off' if you excuse the pun wherever Vertigo is from... oddly enough if you listen to the lyrics it turns out the song is about Nuclear Apocalypse... strange how songs that sound really cheery and light have such dark meanings.
I saw an AMV using that song up on Youtube.com, Vertigo.

Being a Weird Al fan myself, "My Girlfriend is inflatable" is not by him. There have been many parody/comedy songs floating around that's often credited to Weird Al even though he did not write or sing the song. While the song is real, it's not by Weird Al.
Oops, my mistake on the actual artist of the song. My bad.
99 Red Balloons has been done by quite a few people actually.
I have about 3 different versions. Goldfinger and Bjork being the other two.
I've actually been to Nina Hagen's home town in the last month, called Hagen actually. She must have done like Eric Morecambe and taken on a stage name from her home town.
Alright, I feel as though I must clear up this 99 red balloons thing being an '80's music fan. The song is orginally by Nena Kerner, in the group Nena. And it definitely wasn't a one hit wonder...at least not for them.
They are a German band and the song was originally German. It was so popular they did it in English also. Over in Germany, they were quite popular.
Goldfinger's cover of 99 Red Balloons is fan-freakin'-tastic.
Two more songs worth seeking out:
"Up Up and Away" by the Fifth Dimension
"Be My Girl Sally" by the Police
Listen and you'll know why.
there was a story that had 99 red balloons in it and i can't find it. it's the one where a girl is listening to it with a cd player and every time it says balloon she inflates. the cd starts skipping on the word balloon then her friend walks in a turns it off. something happens, her friend turns on the cd player, and it starts skipping on the word balloon again. her friends leaves and hears her explode. anyone know which story this is?
Tim Minchin's "Inflatable You"
Beady Belle's "Big Balloon"
and though not fully relevant still rather mood setting Pale Saint's "Kinky Love"
@Washburn27
I believe that it was a written story/script concept for Korgs Kaboom Yahoo Groups that was turned into the audio by Cyndi Irrisistible I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: Found it http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/mcoddles/val.html
Yeah, that sounds like the Val script...I did actually get it recorded as well by Cyndi. It's around here somewhere, just never been able to finish it up.

To IRL inflatists: What music do you listen during inflation or when watching inflation?
To URL inflatists: What music do you imagine playing in the place where people inflate?
IRL, I usually listen to air hissing to help sell the effect. Ok, I'm kidding about that.
Actually, if I inflate with air (using an aquarium pump) it makes this very nice buzz sound that the pump makes, but your body also feels the buzz as well as hear it. And I'm talking like your whole belly feels the buzz and not just a small section. It's very cool to have this deep, full belly vibration feeling.
Water doesn't have a sound effect (aside from belly gurgles), and using my inflatable suit is very noisy (for the inflation) but also relaxing. I might throw on some binaural audio to help me meditate or relax more, if you guys have heard about that.
"Fat" of the band "Lindemann". I know its not really about inflation, but it sound really fitting
Well, what about music that speeds up while it goes along, rising in crescendo to an enevitable full stop? I know someone who has a fetish for music like that, as it makes him think of inflation getting faster and faster, then a BOOM!
That's a good point. Songs that directly reference inflation are all fine and good, but thematic music that either suggests inflation, or whose beat/rhythme fits the pacing of an inflation scene, is worth considering as well.
For the people who also like metal. This might be a good song. It ends with a over-inflating sound, and yes a pop!
