Riley was a young woman whose life was seemingly defined by "a little more."  Compared to other redheads her hair was a little more red and she had a little more freckles.  She was a little taller, had a little more muscle, and at the same time a little more padding, usually where it mattered but often where it didn't.  When not working or studying she ate a little more, not out of greed or gluttony, but simply as her nature.  Attributing malice to it would be akin to attributing malice to a hunting bird or the tides.

The room looked very much like a number of college girls lived in it. The windows let in the late-morning sunlight, revealing tapestries hung from the walls, half a dozen articles of clothing left on the floor, and an empty wholesale box that formerly housed bags of Cheez-Its. Next to the windows were the four beds, stacked on top of each other in two bunks. A string of Christmas lights were hung up, emanating a soft, orange glow to the ceiling's perimeter.

Anna had always been pushed around by Terry, because Terry believes that she's better than everyone else. Terry would always tear into Anna apart anywhere. No matter what Anna does to prove herself to Terry, Terry destroys her for it. 

"Today it ends" Anna tells herself.

She arrives at Terry's house, Anna unloads the boxes from the UHUAL van into the kitchen. 

"Anna! Get in here! Now!" Terry screams from her room.

It was a cold and snowy February night on the campus of North Chicago Tech, few people were out and about as the snowstorm was supposed to last until the next night. One of those few people out was Caitlin, a communications major, who was making her way to take advance of an uncrowded library. As she walked on the slick sidewalks to the library, she thought about what all of her friends were doing and why she was spending another Friday nightin the library.
