Full Body Inflation

Kathy Kim just wants a job, but this interview is too much pressure!

It all started a few months ago. I'm a lab assistant for a chemistry professor. He leads the field in synthesizing chemicals, and integrating biological subjects with synthetic materials, among other specialties. For example he had once worked with the government in constructing counter bio-weaponry. That's why we're on this island. The professor (his name is John) and I (Gina his lab assistant and lover) were kidnapped by some terrorists and taken to some island we figured out to be in the Florida Keys.

One time, when my parents went on vacation, they left my older sister in charge of me. She wasn't too thrilled about it, because she had a boyfriend and wanted to spend Saturday night with him at his family's cabin by the lake, but she knew that if she left me alone, I'd go out dating, which my parents didn't want me doing if they weren't home. We fought about it all week, but I knew I had the upper hand, since she couldn't make me stay home without giving up the weekend with her boyfriend. When I told her as much, she just grinned nastily and said, "We'll see about that."

The sun arose over the ocean horizon and sprayed a bright light into the many windows of the large condos. A room on the 14th floor housed Rita, an everyday woman trying to make a living. She climbed from her bed, stretching her limbs outwards and yawning. She took a look down at the beach; she had planned to take a day of relaxation after searching for new jobs all week long. The day was already bright and the ocean was reflecting the sun into her eyes. She had chosen the perfect day.
