The pony-tailed brunette in the shorts, sandals and tank top gave a short, dignified bow. "Good day. I am Flora."

The short-haired brunette in the red form-fitting bodysuit waved with all the self-control of an eight-year-old. "I'm Jordan. Today, at this beach..." She gestured to the beach. "...we're going to do more science."

"Or something vaguely connected to it."

"Are you saying that we didn't do science last time?" Jordan asked, hands on her hips.

"It was vaguely science-related, but not actual science. This, probably even less so."

The Gerson-Bates Effect:  Teleportation involves the exchange of equal volumes.

Martin Gerson was satisfied with his statement.  Yes, that seemed about right, he thought to himself as he typed the line.  It fitted all the observed data.

“You crazy bitch.”

His head hurt. His vision was blurry. But as soon as he heard the machinery’s hum, Connor realized where he was, and he found his voice.

“Welcome back, Connor.” Of course she was here.

He started to make out the familiar shapes of the objects in the lab – tables, computers, tanks, fluorescent lights, Rhona’s workstation. As his vision returned, he also realized he couldn’t move his arms; he was taped to his desk chair.

“I was afraid I’d given you too much…and today of all days, that would be anticlimactic.”

As the evening winded down went into the kitchen to pour me a nice cold drink of water. I noticed the frig. was half way open and water was leaking from it. I knew it could be no one else but Cindi. Cindi had a habit of leaving the refrigerator half way open, but never felt she was wrong. The last time she done this, I was out of town, and when I came back the milk had spoiled. She didn’t think it was a big deal and offered to buy me some more. She may have brought me another gallon of milk, but the point of the matter was she was careless.
