“Ok... could you please explain this to me again?”

Lindsay crossed her arms and sighed.  “Love, I’ve already explained it three times.”

Dave looked over at her in the passenger seat.  “It’s just that I have a hard time believing that YOU...”  He motioned his hands up and down at her, then held his arms open wide.  “...are capable of THAT.”

Jeanne Guilder sat on a bench off the arena's main floor, trying to keep her nerves from getting to her. She looked up at the scoreboard and winced at the numbers looking back down at her. In an improbable turn of events, it all came down to her and she was in a position to win it all. It would take one hell of an effort, but it was within reach just enough that the idea of losing - no longer the slam-dunk certainty that it once was - tied her stomach in knots.

Danielle felt a hand slide up the inside of her thigh and stifled a surprised squeal.

She was instantly flooded with some rather vivid memories of the last… however long it had been.  In that moment Danielle recalled the feeling of her legs growing thicker and thicker until she couldn’t move them anymore.  Now, of course, the hand wasn’t really touching her leg at all; she had no legs to touch.  It just felt like they were still there… sort of.

The office had already spent way too much time on the web, and it wasn't even time for lunch yet. Flash. Tower defense. Even that game with the penguin and polar bear. With the branch manager out of town for the weekend, ad revenue from all the popular timewaster sites was seeing an unusual spike thanks to this 50-person operation.

Roy leaned back in his chair and rubbed his eyes, having crushed his last castle. Stretching, he stood up and poked his head over the cubicle wall.

Not Without a Price

The battle had raged on for weeks, an exhausting stalemate between good and evil. A battle replete with spell-casting and traditional weapons made this a true test of resiliency and skill mastery. Only in recent days had the tide turned, and the Order was on the cusp of repelling the vile Badland Trolls’ offensive. It was a most important battle, for either side a decisive victory in the war for territory.

Just behind the front line, First Leader Sinclare watched the Trolls’ formation crumble. “How long has it been since we last slept?” he asked.

Routine Physical

“Financial services, this is Eric. How can I help you?”

“Hey, it’s me.”

“Oh, hey, honey! Are you at the doctor’s office yet?”

“Yep, they just started my physical a couple minutes ago. Thought I’d give you a call.”

“Ah, good. Are you naked?”

“What do you think? Of course I am.”

“Awesome. How’s it coming so far?”

“Oh, you know the drill… I’m all belly… Is now a bad time?”

“Oh, no, not at all, of course not. It’s Friday, things are pretty slow here.”

Unusual Favor, An

When Yrgthlax came through the interdimensional rift a few years ago, it was Amelia with whom he had made first contact, albeit accidentally. (But that’s another story.) Instead of freaking and calling the cops, however, she befriended him, educated him on human culture, and helped him blend into society so he could observe humans. In exchange for Amelia’s generosity, Yrgthlax offered her ten supernatural favors to use at any time. She had already cashed in on several; the rest she was saving for later in her life. But she’d have to burn one sooner than that.

Ride of Your Life, The

Everyone had seen the cranes from the highway for months, lifting steel into the air all over the Thrill Zone amusement park. Blaze, the penultimate breakneck roller coaster, was making its debut today. Its features were unparalleled: top speed nearing 80mph, two massive drops, eleven corkscrews, six loops, and over six minutes long, circling the entire park. For the grand finale, the train would vault itself over a missing section of track approximately 250 feet long. Clearly the ride’s designer was less than sane and probably in jail somewhere, but that’s what makes a good coaster.

The crash landing had gone well.

If such a thing could go well at all, by any standards. However, Samus Aran had not been expecting to survive the reentry to Tallon IV, much less a multiple-G crash landing on the planet’s surface. Her ship had obviously been damaged in the massive explosion that consumed the Space Pirate ship in orbit. Her only question was how extensive the damage was. As her visor came back online, Samus could see rain drops hitting the surface of the visor.

“Shit,” Samus thought, “my ship must be a wreck.”
