"Stop it," said Veronica, as she swatted her boyfriend’s hand. Despite her pleading, her boyfriend, Mac, still couldn’t keep his hands off the receding bulge that emerged from beneath her cutoff tee shirt.
Shawn had awoken over six hours ago; enough time that she might have reconciled herself to the present circumstances. Not a chance. Rattling the ancient rolled iron cuffs that held her hands together, suspended nearly arm length above her head by the equally elderly chain that ran up the rock hewn wall, she growled softly at the back of her throat while her mind frantically ran over the events of the last few days.
Tina was finally on her long awaited vacation. On her first day off, she decided to go pool side. She arrived at the pool with her lounge chair, drink and a romance novel she had been looking forward to reading. She looked out at the pool...beside a few kids in the 3 foot, the pool was practically empty. This is perfect...she thought...I'll read a few chapters of my book, relax in the sun...then go for a swim...Tina unpacked her stuff and opened up her lounge chair under a nice shady umbrella.
Angela tossed and turned in her bed for almost an hour before deciding to open her bedroom window, hoping a cool breeze might ease the hot summer night. She tied back the curtains before lighting a citronella candle and placing it on the window sill to keep the bugs out. She laid back down and before closing her eyes again imagined the flickering candle to be that of a candlelit dinner for two. As she focused on the idea of having the reality of a love life, the curtains fluttered and a blue balloon about four inches in diameter drifted in with the breeze.
